I know that the cage that my rabbit stays in is way too small for him. He is a 2 month old holland lop which is a relatively small breed, ranging from 3-4 pounds but his cage is only 42 inches by 21 inches (I believe). He does get out about 6 hours a day because I am home so much because I only go to school for half the day but when I go to college I am going to be busy a lot more and I would just love a bigger cage for him seeing that I am most likely going to eventually get him a friend. At first I was looking at NIC cages and how much one would cost to build but they aren’t really very eye appealing or safe. I have been looking at Leith Petwerks Bunny Condo’s because they are so big and nice and roomy and you can buy add on’s and all types of stuff for them. They are kind of expensive though..but I think it’s worth it. I was just wondering if anyone on here has one and what you guys think of them.

I have had them and truly did love them – the only reason I don’t use one now is because I am down to one rabbit and he is free roam.

They are very attractive, easy to clean, I love that they come on casters. The company that makes them really knows rabbits and that is all they do is rabbit stuff. I love the size of these and that they are vertical. They are perfect for a small – small/medium rabbit….not a large breed.

The ones I had I gave to friends with rabbits and they loved them as well. Yes, they are costly but they are attractive and easy to take apart and clean – can be a bit of a trick to put together but not a big deal – the wire part fits into a slit that goes all around the wooden frame and the metal part folds together when you take it off – it’s not really a big deal but can be a challenge initially…I’ll have to see if I can find a photo that I have of my past rabbits in them and post it for you.

Here are some of my photos – I used to foster rabbits.  My little Dutch pair – Peaches & Peppermint share a 3 story one – they were small little rabbits so it was perfect for them.

I’ve never had one of their condos, but wouldn’t hesitate to buy one if I needed a condo and didn’t want a homemade one. I’ve bought other things from thing, including the condo ramps. Everything I’ve gotten has been excellent quality, and Scot is wonderful. Excellent customer service, quick return on email or phone calls if you have any questions about anything. I can’t say enough nice things about Scot and Amy.

thanks for the replies. I just hate that my bunny has so little space. It makes me feel bad to have to put him in his cage at night when I got to bed. I think even the double one would be okay for him because you can always just buy another level and add it on if you get another bun.

That cage is really cute, but I am wondering if your rabbit is actually a Mini Lop? Generally, Holland Lops get that size when they are adults. Mine is four months (almost) and half that size.. Sorry that was off topic, just figured I would point it out.

Ok didn’t mean to sound rude or anything if it came across that way. Maybe his parents were just very large, lol.

Maybe I read it wrong, but I thought that KMP was saying that the holland lop breed gets to be 3-4 lbs not that her bunny was 3-4 lbs at 2 months old. Some pet hollands can get a little bigger — Moshi is 4.2 lbs and I believe another BBer has one at 4.5 lbs, but I doubt you’d find a purebred holland weighing 4 lbs at 2 months old.

Now that I re-read it, that makes sense, Haha. Sorry, I misunderstood.

If built correctly, NIC condos are definitely very safe, and the nice thing is that the panels can be changed around however you want. But the Leith condos are very beautiful! I think either way you decide to go will be a big improvement!

Beka’s right. Kieko’s condo is made from NIC grids, looks very nice (3 levels, black grids, wooden slats as door closers, wooden base with trim), and is sturdy enough to withstand being turned on it’s side when we added casters, and sturdy enough to withstand me falling onto it when I tripped over the baby gate! The hardest part of building her condo was the ramps, but you can even buy the lieth ramps for like $16 a piece, complete with carpet, rumble strips, and hinges already attached. The only drawback to the NIC condo . . . two panels deep plus our base (complete with baseboard trim) is too wide to roll through the door of the room we built it in!

He’s probably about 2 and 1/2 to 3 pounds now because he didn’t get a lot of out of cage time where I got him from so I believe he’s a little chubby. I’ve been letting him out a lot to maybe get him in better shape. I believe I am going to buy a leith petwerks 2 level condo because you can always take them apart and move them and knowing my situation I’ll be moving quite a bit.

I love their condos. I have bought stuff from that site. I wanted to buy a condo from them in the past but we didn’t. They definitely look well built. You must show us a pic if you do get one!

Wow I just had a look at these and loved the look of them, Bramble really needs a new living area but unfortunately it would cost me twice the price of the condo to get it shipped to the UK!

Here’s a couple of pics of Kieko’s condo.  The first was when we first made it and the second is today.  (ignore the stuff on top of the condo and the mess — keep in mind that the condo is in my son’s room!)

Yes shipping is costly but they are large and heavy so it’s not going to be cheap.

We’ve just built our bunny their condo, it’s roomy enough to clean it, the carpets are detachable so that they can be hosed down in the case of accidents. We found that it was cheaper than the petwerks condo but not by much, that being said we have been able to add to it and customize it to suit the buns.

hi everyone, I am new to binkybunny. But I was also thinking about the petwerks condos, but whats the cleaning like to those who have one? Is it relatively easy to clean?

Very easy to clean – each level has an opening.
