So some of you may have seen my post a few weeks ago about my new baby who sprays and humps me constantly.

Well he is booked in for his fix on the 7th of Oct so I still have a couple of weeks till this behaviour stops. Anyway for now I am trying all I can to let him out of his cage without being sprayed: I have tried the bed but he leaves the squichy poos (what are they called?) and sprays up the wall, I tried the bathroom which isn’t that much bigger than his cage.

Now I am trying the hallway which worked really well the other day but this morning I have a problem.  The hallway leads into my living room where Neji and Luna live. There is no door so I have put a baby gate with black correx infront so the bunnies cannot see each other but Neji can clearly smell the spray this morning because he is looking v. worrried and is stomping his foot.

Should I return Bucky (the sprayer) to his cage because Neji is clearly upset and stop doing this until he is fixed?

I just dunno what to do with poor Bucky he never gets out time.

Memories of a young un neutered Starsky.. In the end he had my cat slippers which he humped mercilessly till I bought him a bunny stuffie to keep him occupied and vent his amorous desires. I would suggest doing the same. A plush toy of equivalent size should keep him busy. You will still get some bad behavior but at least he can exhaust himself on the toy.

Poor Bucky! Poor YOU! Gee, I don’t know…. Oct 7th seems so close, yet is so far away! I want to say what your doing is great, and to ignore Neji’s behaviour knowing they are not in contact, but I honestly don’t know?
Just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you BOTH and I truly understand how upsetting this is for you LizzAnn. I’ll be counting down the days with you!
PS – and I’m sure someone who has had a simular experience may be able to tell you whether it’s a good idea to stick with it – I think I would if it were me.

Edit to ADD – There you go! Roberta right on que!

He has a stuffed bunny, he has had it for weeks now but I worry about it becoming a habit that will stick with him after the op. Did yours, Roberta?
And even with this plush little friend to keep him busy there seems to be something about my legs that he can’t resist haha.
Anyway, he still sprays. It is hard as one bun is having the time of his life with a bit of freedom and the other is horrified of the stench of someone unknown. My poor babies, what a pickle.
Thank you for the replies guys and for the kind words AndHenry.

Starsky did eventually settle down and doesn’t pay much attention to the stuffie anymore. It took a while. He was dreadful, any thing he could get his paws on was humped… If he could have gotten to the cats at the time I daresay it would have been an unpleasant meeting.
I had Starsky in the sun room with a cage and Xpen before he was done and later I moved him inot the lounge beside Pascal… There is still some territorial pooping but that could be down the the coming and going of rescue buns wh arrive intact and eventually become neutered or spayed.
You can try wiping down the sprayed areas with a dilution of white vinegar, it’s an additional task but once he eventually settles you should not need to do it.
Would it be possible to divide the hallway with the baby gate so you limit Bucky’s range and give Neji and Luna a bit more of a buffer zone ?
