I’ve recently bonded my two buns (yay!) and it’s time to condense them into one living space.  They both have free range of the downstairs.  I currently have my original bunny in a (smallish) dog crate, but I’ve found that there is a lot of wasted vertical space.  I saw the pre-made ‘bunny condos’ online but $350 is definitely not in my budget.  I’ve had my eye on what is techinically an outdoor hutch but super cute, and I could get a dog crate tray as its base.

Wondering if anyone has other ideas, or has experience using an outdoor hutch indoors.  With two little kids at home I don’t think I’d have the time to make a condo with NIC, and I’m definitely looking to have a cage/hutch rather than x-pen since they have so much space outside of their enclosure day to day.

        Thanks!

That hutch isn’t big enough for two rabbits, also it requires assembly. And from my experience with assembling a similar hutch (used indoors with an xpen attached for reasonable room), it takes WAY more effort, time and tools than a NIC cage.

My partner and I have a NIC cage for our bonded pair, and we have built this and rebuilt this several times in different places (because of moving) in literally an hour after work.
It is 6 grids x 3 grids x 3 grids with a few shelves (not complete levels). The floor is just a roll of linoleum, no fancy wooden base needed. It is held together with zip ties and the shelves are supported by wooden beams zip tied on. The shelves are covered in linoleum but cardboard, carpet, foam tiles work as well. Just punch holes and zip tie on.
It’s ridiculously simple to assemble, a lot cheaper than alternatives and provides way more space than any pre-made cage or hutch.

Please don’t waste hundreds on a hutch or cage, there are none you can buy that are big enough, especially for two bunnies. Even if they are only in it at night time, that’s still half their day.

Thanks for the feedback- will reconsider a nic setup.

I looked that rabbit hutch up on Amazon. Its pretty cute. People had some pictures and they were indoor ones. I am not sure if it would be big enough for 2 rabbits its hard to tell. I was reading the reviews and some people do have 2 rabbits living in it. One person said that its a good side for 2 dwarf rabbits. A lot of people like building NIC cages. I guess its a personal preference really. If they are only in it at night maybe its not so bad. I haven’t built a NIC cage being my rabbits have a room but I have built a couple of boxes with a top and lid for carrying them in and I found it to be time consuming to build because I wanted to make it pretty strong.
Like I said its really a personal preference.
