Sir Tainted will stand in his water bowl and he will also dump it and lay in the puddle. None of my previous rabbits have done anything like that so I was wondering if anyone else has a rabbit who gets into it’s water?

My rabbits used to throw around their water dishes. Use a really heavy one that he can’t move (ceramic or something else). I also gave my rabbits more toys to keep them entertained, and that also really helped. I have a bottle and a bowl in my bunnies cage too. Rumpus drinks from the bottle and Mocha prefers the bowl.

Theodore used to sometimes come up to the edge of the cage and plunk his front paws right in his water dish without so much as noticing, if he wanted to see what was happening outside the pen. He has also tipped over his water bowls a few times, and plopped his rear end right in the water as well, again, almost as though he didn’t even notice. I have now for him an automatic waterer that is too heavy for him to turn over, and so far I really love it.

I’m sorry FLR, I shouldn’t laugh but I’ve got this picture in my head of Theodore giving himself a butt bath in his water bowl!

Oh, laugh all you want! I certainly did. I thought rabbits were supposed to be scared of water, but Theodore just acts like it doesn’t exist! Unless he’s drinking it, of course…

I once even was refilling his bowl when he had ceramic ones, tripped, and spilled a little water on his back. He didn’t even flinch. Just looked up at me, like, “why?”

xD Lilac loves water and has tipped over the bowls, sat in puddles, put her bum in the water dish, put her paws in the dish, and recently I caught her holding the half melted water bottle with her head and paws.I dont think rabbits are scared of water, just most of them dont like it. It has to do with the idea of them being in shock with them being in contact of the water. Heck, some rabbits like to swim! and some like legit baths!

Rabbits can be silly little guys sometimes. My last rabbit would dump his water bowl but he did not like to get the water on him however Sir Tainted seems to be dumping his water so he can lay in it. Right now he is sleeping on his bed which he dumped his water out on.

BunBun loves water. I haven’t tried a bowl with her yet but she waits for the bottle to drip enough water and then she sits it in…or puts her forehead to the mouthpiece of the bottle ;; It’s startling to snuggle a wet bunny and not know what was up xD
