Wednesday 9/3/14 I discovered that my bunny, Howard, had fleas (my dog had just been treated for fleas, so I’m pretty sure that’s how he got them). The next day, Thursday 9/4/14, he went to the vet and was prescribed Revolution. I applied it to the skin on he back of his neck that night. Friday evening, a little over 24 hours after the application, I combed through his fur checking for fleas. I found about 4 live ones and a couple parts of dead ones. I was pretty dismayed about still finding live fleas, but the package did say it could take up to 36 hours to kill them all. I also still saw a pretty decent amount of flea poop too. It’s Saturday evening now and I just checked Howard’s fur again. I didn’t find any live fleas or any carcasses, but there is still small amounts of the flea dander poop stuff, is this normal?
Is it just left over from when the fleas were there and is still sticking to Howard’s fur, or is it a sign there are still more live fleas? His fur is white and I’ve looked really carefully, so since I don’t see any fleas I want to believe they’re gone, but I’m still worried for him :c

The flea dander and poo and stuff is normal, I would just keep checking the next couple of days.

Hi. Fleas are annoying. What happens is they lay eggs, which hatch into larva, then pupae and then emerge as an adult. These other 3 life stages are in your pets environment. So as new fleas emerge, they jump onto your rabbit and your dog. Revolution is not a force field (gosh I wish it were!!) so the annoying things can still get onto your pet and it takes a little bit before they start to die. (so you will be seeing them for awhile) In order to eradicate fleas from your home using only revolution, you need to treat all the pets (so any dogs/cats/rabbits/ferrets) etc and you need to apply the revolution once a month for at least 3 months in a row (in order to break the life cycle of the new fleas that are hatching). It’s important not to restrict your pets access to places that they normally go. As they are walking and hopping around, dander and fur is shedding off, and that is helping to kill the larva that are hiding in baseboards, carpets etc.

            Good luck
