I am looking to buy Midas all new things, so I am basically looking for ideas on what to put in his cage.

Right now, it’s just some toys, a litter box, Hidey house, and his water and food dishes..

What do you have in your cage? Where did you get it? How much was it? Did you make it?

What flooring do you use in your cage?

What’s your buns favorite toy? Where do you mainly shop for your bun stuff?

Pretty vague questions :p just looking for set up ideas

        PS. Pics would be amazing

Some stuffed animals, from pet stores and the pet section at the super market.

A few towels he can use as blankets and nest in, from my linen closet.

A basket, can’t remember where from.

Several boxes with arches cut in them, from Costco’s free box bin.

Two balls, one woven grass and one willow, from the bunny department at the pet store.  Plus a plastic ball with a bell inside from when my kid was a baby.

A clip on food dish meant for kennels from the dog department.

A plastic accordion tunnel from the cat department.

A woven grass tunnel/house from the bunny department.

A litter box from the cat department.

A “hay rack” from Ikea’s kitchen organization section.

          Several little rugs from Ikea.

A water bottle from the bunny department.

A colander, bowl and plate from my kitchen.  (I need to reclaim and wash those)

          Timothy twist from BinkyBunny.

Toilet paper rolls from the bathroom.

Out of date calender pages from my organizer.

          And one bunny.

In getting new things, switch stuff out gradually, and consider what your bunny might be really attached to, like don’t take away a favorite stuffed animal.

Pretty vague questions :p just looking for set up ideas

Here’s what Theodore has in his home:

                • Flooring: For his primary flooring, I bought a set of laminate hardwood panels from LumberLiquidators.com for $15. They’re excellent – they look like real hardwood but were super cheap, extremely easy to set up, and very easy to clean. On top of these panels, I have a layer of cotton towels to provide some softness for Theodore’s feet. The only area that isn’t toweled over, as you can see in the picture, is his little cooling station in the corner, where the towel’s been lifted up. This was his idea, and I went along with it. xP The panels were $15, the towels were about $5 altogether.
                • Hidey House: Theodore’s hidey house is just a big cardboard box that we had after we moved into our new place, with two large holes cut into it so he has two entrances. He loves his hidey house – it was the first thing he chinned when he moved in! I think he’s working on a window for it, too. I see him sometimes gnawing one of the sides from the outside. This was free.
                • Food & Water: For food and water, Theodore has a few different things. I have one small ceramic plate on which I put his morning salad every day. I take this out when he’s done and wash it off, then store it on the supply shelf next to his pen. This is to help keep it clean but also to not waste space with things that aren’t being used. Then, for his evening pellets, he has a small ceramic bowl which I fill each night with his share of pellets. This sits right next to two ceramic bowls for water. He has two because I noticed that sometimes his water bowl will be empty when I come home, so I got him two so that he always has a water supply. I just ordered a Petmate automatic waterer, so we’ll see how that works. Then of course, he has his litterbox, with a small basket attached to the sides of the pen that keeps fresh, clean, unsoiled hay. The litterbox was $10, the basket was $1.
                • Toys: Theodore has a variety of toys both inside and outside of his pen. Some are only for his out time. Inside his pen, he has: a large knot nibbler, a small wicker basket, a floss chew toy, three wooden carrot chew toys, plastic keys, and a hay ball. Outside the pen, he has a smaller knot nibbler, and his favorite toys of all time, which are just paper towel tubes with holes cut in the sides, which allows pellets to fall out when he pushes them around. The toys altogether were probably around $15-$20.
                • Other Accessories: In addition to all of this, Theodore also has five small ceramic cooling tiles, which he thinks of as toys and rearranges / throws around all the time, if he’s not lying on them. Then, in the corner, to the side of his hidey house, he has a frozen waterbottle wrapped up in towel. Because the wood laminate is cooler than the towel areas, this makes a nice little cooling station for him. The waterbottle was $1, the ceramic tiles were $5.

                Here’s a picture!

I have a few toys that I rotate (usually plastic ones)
I have a few rattles that I rotate (one is a giraffe, a bunny, a santa, and a a twisty heart) and I got most of them from my local thrift store for a little over a dollar?
I also have a few cat balls I rotate between Lilac and Icarus (prices vary but I love the dollar store cat balls the most)
I have a mostly devoured woven carrot, a wooden hanging chew, a hanging chew that had a pinecone, willow ball, loofah, and wood on it, a wood chew tied together with sisal, and a lava block (From a pet store, prices vary)
Baby keys (Part of the thrift store buy)
                        Various toilet paper rolls
Cut boxes for hiding, tunneling, and playing on (from my work/ online orders, so free)
food dish, water dish, litterbox, and hay

And I have a baby ring set for supervised play time only! A few more boxes for free range time, and I’m making more toys for her as we speak

Ok, right now in the condo the bunnies have 3 litterboxes, 3 water bowls, pellet and veggie dish. They have a cat bed, a seagrass mat, two ceramic tiles, a corner hut, some baby chains hanging over the door, a large jingly ball, baby keys and a barbell toy, a few homemade toys, a few cardboard boxes and a cardboard tunnel, willow chews, a slinky. I think that’s it in the condo. But that’s just by memory.

In my rabbit’s cages( I have 2 46 inch cages put together) I have their litter boxes and their food and water dishes. They do not live in the cages because they have their own room but I still use it to keep the mess down from their litter box and water they sometimes spill. In their room they have cardboard boxes to play on and in. They have a cottontail cottage which btw they love now. I remember you asking about it. They have grass mats and all kinds of different rabbit toys to chew on. Also a magazine, they love ripping up magazines. My rabbits are VERY spoiled. Once they got bonded I went out and bought them all kinds of things for their room in celebration.

If we are going to list all the things that used to be in our rabbits’ cage, but have been eaten and destroyed, it’s going to take several pages per bunny.

My Bramble doesn’t show much interest in toys, which kinda makes me a little sad. He does like things to chew/dig though so mostly boxes some filled with hay and some not, I did used to let him have old phonebooks but he now tends to eat them rather than dig at them so I have stopped that for a while as I am a little worried about the ink. I tend to vary the treats but anything that can attach to his cage or pen he seems to like, we got a really cool treat that had all sorts of wonderful things inside a tube which he seemed to love, problem was it attached to the cage with a thin piece of string or something similar which he quickly bit through as soon as the thing was on ground level he totally ignored it! He particularly loves toilet roll tubes, again I stuff some with hay and leave some empty and he has an absolute ball throwing these about the place before eating them.

For flooring in his playpen we have a dog blanket which he loves digging at and pulling loads of if up in a bunch in the corner to snuggle into, this used to worry me because I thought he was eating it but in four months there are no holes or obvious signs of chewing so I think its ok.

I buy all sorts of plastic toys for him, like cat balls with bells in or something like that but Bramble never shows an interest in any of them.

Oh and of course his litter box, food bowl and water bottle are in there too.

Bramble is on cage rest at the moment after his neutering but once he is back in his pen I will take a picture.
