I was reading about vitamin e and veggies and found that dried basil, parsley, and a few others are good sources of vitamin e. Have any of you ever sprinkled these (like you’d find in the spice isle) on your bunny’s pellets or salad? Would these be ok?

I haven’t tried this, but as long as the dried herbs are just herbs, nothing added, then it should be fine. Parsley (fresh and dried) is very healthy, and I always feed it to my bunnies.

I never have cause my (sorry, my husband’s) bunny gets fresh parsley every night, and the hubby’s bunny doesn’t like basil – the only herb growing in my backyard – dam bunny!

But yer, if that’s all they are – ‘dried’ herbs, I can’t see a problem – only that they may not like the taste??? As we know, the taste is very different.

Dried tastes different from fresh? (remember, I don’t cook so wouldn’t know the difference)

Gotta confirm that if there is nothing added to the dried herbs (like salt or other preservatives)then it should be fine! And you could always get the fresh herbs, dry them yourself, and crush/sprinkle them yourself

Hmmm . . . another use for the dehydrator I bought just to dehydrate carrots for bunny treats!

You can use a dehydrator to dehydrate lots of fruits/veggies for bunnies. I usually use apple, carrot, bannanna, and parsley.

I find that when I add fresh parsley to my Bolognese I can really taste it. But when I add the dried (for the health benefit) I can’t taste it for the life of me??? Why I thought there may be a difference in taste?
Ummmm, I just read my bottle and it states parsley only – no additives.

I have added dried herbs as a hay topper. There is hay out there that even has herbs in it. I can’t remember what brand it was, but it was like timothy and mint or something.

I give mine dried herbs. It’s fine to buy them from the spice isle (no additives, preferably organic) but I usually just pick them from my garden and dry them myself to use as a hay topper.

I have various dried herb and flower mixes from Galen’s garden (If anyone’s heard of it?) the bunnies like it, I don’t know if it makes much nutritional difference though.
