So my bun is a 6 month old neutered male. I recently tried to introduce leafy greens to him much to his dismay. I have tried kale and tonight tried cilantro. He won’t even touch it. In fact he smells it and gives me foot flicks as he hops away. Is he too young for greens or is he just being picky since it’s new to him? Any greens that bunnies prefer? I’m a first time bunny owner so it’s all new

This is him showing me his distaste for all things green…

He just doesn’t know them – keep trying.

Agreed. I started with romaine, then parsley and cilantro (both he snubbed), basil, then kale. I was growing basil and cilantro in pots and ended up sticking them in his enclosure. It took about a week for him to decide to nibble on them. But yea, parsley took a few tries and then it was a hit! Kale is everyone’s favorite though.

He actually looks like he’s afraid of it! That’s too cute!

Just keep offering. Once he figures it out, your veggie bill will go way up!

I agree with the other just keep trying. I found giving them the more fragrant greens (mint, dill, cilantro, etc.) helps to get them interested.

Thanks guys! I saw him start to nibble a bit on some cilantro today, of course he stopped when I looked at him, he can’t be caught enjoying it lol. I’ll keep offering greeny yumminess and sooner or later I’m sure he won’t resist

I think it was a look like “what are you trying to feed me, how dare you try to make me eat this!” It was definitely a look of disgust lol. He’s pretty animated, he cracks me up!

Bunnies are great like that. Their “what IS this, human!?” faces are the absolute best. Have you tried parsley? c: I’m sure he’ll soon warm to his greens.

I LOVE that picture! They are like kids – decide they don’t like new foods before they’ve even tried them! Whenever mine turns his nose up at something new I always end up saying “at least TRY it!!!” but he never does it’s like he doesn’t even listen… LOL
