We have decided to add to our little bunny family and are picking up Roberto on Saturday.

We already have our spayed female but the new bunny is a boy and will not be neutered until the vet gives the go ahead to him being ready for it. I am just looking for advice on how I should have them living until he is neutered.

Should I keep them apart completely until after his neuter? Or do I conduct the whole introduction process and allow them to live together? Or introduce but still live apart?

I’ve never had two together before but seem to have a whole load of different information online.

        Thank you!

I think we would advise they live completely apart until he is neutered, and for a month after that. It’s just much simpler once hormones aren’t a factor

            Thank you for replying
Can I not introduce them at all? Or just not live together yet?

Honestly, I haven’t been in this situation before but if I were I would allow them to meet. Just to see how it goes. But try to make it as safe as possible, maybe put them in cages beside each-other so they could sniff and stuff. Read their body language as best you can to see how they react to one another.

Another way to get them used to eachother would be letting them play with whatever toys and switching them so they could get used to the others smell

Since pregnancy isn’t a concern, supervised contact on neutral territory isn’t a big deal usually. When I was a teen in 4H, we took or intact bunnies to meeting and shows and stuff and they would just happily sniff each other and hop around. Just be prepared to have to pick one up in case something goes wrong, like your current bunny doesn’t agree with your definition of neutral territory.
