        hey bunny parents !

a little less than a month ago I got my bunny neutered because it’s recommended and because he was starting to potty all over his room. we hoped that after he was fixed he would continue back to his old ways when he used to be so good at using his litter. however he continues to move his litter out of the corner of the room and pee and poop on the floor where his litter box should be.

my boyfriend and I have no idea what to do because changing the pee pad on the floor and cleaning his poop is becoming tedious. we just want our got litter trained bun back !

        any ideas ?!

        thank you !!

oh and as of now all we can think of is leaving him in his cage so he has to use his litter. however I feel like he holds it in unto we let him out. also I hate making him stay in his cage. I want him to be able to run freely again in his room.

Clean up pee accidents with paper towels and put the paper towels in the litterbox. Wherever he pees outside the litterbox, clean the area good with 50/50 mix of white vinegar/water. Pick up poops and let him see you putting them in the litterbox. If you can, put a litterbox in the corner where he pees.

Hopefully, in another week or two once his hormones have completely died down, you’ll see a great improvement in his litter habits. You may always have stray poops here and there at times though.

Sometimes bunnies “forget” how to use the litter box once they hit puberty and litter box habits don’t magically return after neutering. As JR described, I would go back to litter box training 101. Teach him how to use the litter box again. And yes, he still might be feeling that last surge or hormones right about now. So you may not see results for a couple more weeks.
