Okay, so. Theodore has a huge variety of toys in his environment. He’s got:

        • A willow stick for chewing on, which he likes okay.
        • Some carrot-shaped wood chews, which he likes a little more than the willow stick. He likes carrying these around and putting them in odd places, like on top of the frozen water bottle.
        • A ball of hay, which he plays with occasionally.
        • Some plastic baby keys, which he moves around from time to time.
        • Some seagrass chews, which he really likes.
        • Some “floss” chews (example), which he’s sorta passive towards.
        • Some wooden “knot nibblers” (example), which he pretty much just throws into his water dish.
        • I also give him some paper towel tubes with holes cut out of the sides and pellets inside, and he enjoys tossing, boxing, and pushing that around to get the pellets.

But his favorite thing, of all time, are his little ceramic cooling tiles. They’re about 4 sq inches, ceramic, and in there to provide him with a cool place to lay down. He uses them for that, but what he really loves is tossing and moving them about. I’ll often hear a small, ceramic-sounding crash from down the hall and go to see that, lo and behold, the tiles have mysteriously migrated again.

So I’m wondering if there are any toys that would simulate this? It’s not that I mind him moving the tiles about, but I’m wondering if I can give him a toy that he’ll similarly enjoy. I think what he likes is the texture of the tiles, both the smooth top and the rough bottom.

If anyone has any suggestions, I’d be very appreciative.

Have you ever gotten him any sea-grass mats? It seems like he likes to remodel his house! I would also recommend a cardboard box that is too small for him to get into but still large-ish (Does that make any sense?) And cut a few holes in it so he can toss it about or push it around. Maybe he likes the sound? In which case I would get a plastic cat jingly ball that he can push around. You could also put one of these balls inside a small cardboard box, add a few holes so he can pick it up (but not big enough for the ball to fall through) and let him have fun with it that way :3

(Edit to add: This is a larger cat ball that she has but she loves pushing it around and tossing it!)

I think he really LOVES to remodel, hahaha. I love the small-ish but large-ish cardboard box idea! Yes, it made total sense. I think we even have some of those lying around right now, so I’ll pull one out and try that out.

It’s very likely that he likes the sound the tiles make when they crash into each other, because he’s always doing that. xD Maybe he would like a bell. I might try that, too! Thanks for your suggestions!

Okay, so for right now I have a small basic cardboard box that a book came in, it’s about 6″ x 8″. I don’t have a bell right now, so I put his plastic keys inside, which gives it a good rattling sound, though he may be wanting a higher pitch. Let’s see how that works!
