Every water bottle I’ve bought for my bunny so far has dripped like crazy.  So first I’m wondering if anyone has found a solution to this?

I found a water bottle that is non-drip- theres a little lever that you have to push in to make the water come out.  The directions say to train your animal by pressing the lever to show them that there is water that comes out, but this isn’t working for me.  The directions also say that you can put a bit of peanut butter on the lever to attract the animal- but I don’t want to give my rabbit peanut butter because from what I’ve read that isn’t good for them.  Has anyone tried a water bottle like this and had any success? Or does anyone have any ideas for how I could get my bunny to start using it?

I use glass water bottles with double ball spouts. I thought about the lever kind but figured Moshi would sit there and hold the lever open once he learned how it worked. Kieko has a bowl and a bottle and uses both.

With the ball spouts, we found that filling them a little fuller than called for and always tapping the ball until bubbles appear helps. They still drip a tiny bit sometimes, but we moved the bottles to the litterboxes (eat hay, drink water, and poop all without leaving the litterbox). Now, if they drip, the litter absorbs it.

I use ceramic bowls, but if you are determined to get your bun to use the lever you could always put a small piece of banana around it. Or you could dip the lever in carrot juice? I’m certain those things will at least attract your bun ^-^

In have a gravity bottle with a metal ball. I started with a smaller one and then gradually moved to a larger one with a larger ball.

Not all of them leak but I’ve had to try to find a few before I was happy.

Also I did it with banana too. I put a little piece to entice her and eventually she got it

I found that the one I used to use (before I changed to bowls) would drip sometimes worse than others. I did a little adjusting of the wire that holds it onto the cage helped a lot. Usually I could get the dripping to stop altogether by just sliding it lower down the bottle, making the bottle angle slightly change. It took a few tries (and much staring at the bubble of water trying to drip), once I saw the drip coming, I’d slide the wire up or down until the bubble sucked back up into the spout.

I also agree about trying to use a little banana on your lever one to teach how to use.
