I just got an 8 week old, male, orange Holland Lop. His previous owners gave him a water bottle instead of a bowl. I have his cage set up so there is a heavy bowl full of water, plus a small water bottle. The problem is, my bunny will now sit at the water bottle for five minutes trying to get the water to come out of the bottle I got for him. He won’t even touch his water bowl, no matter what I do. How do I know if the water bottle is even giving him water? Also, do you guys know any ideas of how to switch him to using a bowl?

To check if water is coming out, take your finger and quickly and gently tap the tip. Water comes out when the little ball is pushed back, so when rabbits lick the tip, it pushes the ball back and water comes out. If nothing comes out, check to see if it is clogged. How man ounces are in the bottle? Maybe a bigger one would help the water come out quicker.

I’m sorry but I have to tips about switching from a water bottle to a bowl.

Thank you! I checked, and water comes out perfectly. It is a pretty small water bottle. Over the night he drank half the bottle, so yeah, it definitely works. Thanks again.

Just leave the bowl filled with water there and remove the water bottle. Eventually he will drink from the bowl =D
