My doe got spayed yesterday and has opened one of her stitches ! The vet isn’t open until 8 am tomorrow, do I call an emergency vet or wait?

Can you tell if the wound is also glued ? Has the wound opened at all ? If it has opened then I would get to the emergency vet. If the wound is also glued and has not opened you should be ok to wait ill your vet opens but get there first thing.

What does it look like? Does it look really bad/infected? Can you see her insides? If not, I’d just keep an eye on her until morning. If yes, I would consider bringing her in.

^^^ That sounded weird, I meant to say does it look opened or is it glued like Roberta was saying… I agree with Roberta.

Hmm, did she rip out all of her stitches? Or just a couple?

Also what time is it where you live, how long would you have to wait to get her checked out in the morning?

She only ripped one, it is 9:30 pm at the moment and it opens at 8 am. The wound is about 1/8th of an inch maybe smaller.

I would say keep a close eye on it until morning. Then get her in.

(unless it gets a lot worse, then I’d take her in)

Most vets use glue or a double layer of stitches. By the second day, my bun ate all of his stitches out. At first he was a little pink but then he kept licking the area which caused him to get a small infection. I wouldn’t worry. Just call the vet in the morning to see if he used glue. My vet said he used one layer or stitches then glue then another row. He knew how my bun gets into everything so he told me ahead of time that this would prob happen. Very common.

The vet ended up proscribing Metacam for pain and because her temperature was a bit high, 40.1 degrees. She also suggested I put something over the wound so I bought a baby shirt to put over her. I also had to buy apple sauce & mashed bananas cause shes having a hard time taking the medication. Let’s hope this helps!
