        Hey,

Got my 1 year old Billy (neutered) and my 5 month old Rose (Not yet the vets wont do it for another month)

I’ve had rose for about 2 months now, Been slowly introducing them together and all was well. I could keep them together all day in a neutral area with no problem, at night they go back into their separate areas next to each other in case anything happened while I was asleep. They’ve been going into there together for about 2/3 weeks now with no issue, they’d sleep next to each other, groom each other eat together etc.

I was just watching a film when suddenly a fight broke out with them. I don’t have a clue what it was over, I just jumped in and picked one of them up out of it. Was quite a lot of fur everywhere after.

I’m kinda just wondering what could have happened to do that? How should I proceed with them now?

They need to be kept separate until 4-6 weeks after her spay. Her hormones are going wild and they get extremely territorial. And yes, it can happen like flipping a switch. Once the wait time for her hormones to dissipate after her spay, you will have to re-bond them. This could go easy, or it might be a little difficult, depending on how much animosity they have following the fight. Hopefully they will forget it while you wait out the time and re-bonding them won’t be too bad.

Ah, that would explain it. That sucks. I might be best moving her area somewhere else, I get woken up sometimes by Billy trying to bite through the bars to get to her

            Thanks for the info

I think that’s a good idea Hugabear. It will be a pain during the wait but Manic_muncher is absolutely right.
