So a couple of weeks ago I gave Pippin an appropriate dose of oral Ivermectin for her weight. She’s had a bad case of mites that just won’t let up. She had a reaction to the medicine though and I can no longer use it on her. Her ears turned blue and we went to the vet and I was basically vet shamed for using Ivermectin in the first place. Fast forward to now, we were sent home with a small dog dose of Revolution 5-10lb. The vet said to wait 2.5 weeks before using this but the mites have returned in the meantime. She didn’t tell me how to dose this stuff. And the pamphlet isn’t all that helpful, it’s incredibly confusing. The last thing I want to do is screw this up. Anyway my questions are this:

        1) How should I dose this Revolution?

        2) The vet said to wait 2.5 weeks before using and it’s been almost 2. Pippin is miserable, should I give it to her now? Or was the 2.5 weeks to allow the Ivermectin out of the system before the Revolution?

Thank you for any and all help. We’ve been on a freaking roller coaster.

I would wait the full 2.5 weeks to be safe.

How big is Pippin… That’s is an awfully big dose… I usually use Puppy and Kitten under 2.5 kg (5lb).
Revolution is a topical product that you spot on the skin behind the neck (usually a smidgen higher for bunnies) Additionally as it is applied externally it helps to treat their environment. You will have to calculate the dose based on Pippins weight…

The vet should have weighed her so you could phone them and get her correct weight.

Pippin is a bit over 5lbs. I questioned why she prescribed this one as well but she has rabbit expertise so I trust that this is what we should be using. I’m aware that it’s not oral, but I’ve read other sites that say that you DO have to use a syringe to measure out the correct dose? So it’s not as easy as just using one of the tubes on her, I have to measure how much out of that tube is appropriate? She also said I couldn’t use this same Revolution on my dwarf who is around 2.5lbs. Good grief I’m just frustrated by this and want to get my girl well asap.

              Thanks for the response Roberta!

Alright, if anyone could help me figure out around how many drops of Revolution for around a 5.5lb rabbit and a 2.5lb rabbit that would be great. I treated Pippin already but it required me emptying the tube into a container and then using the syringe which wasted a bit of it. If someone could tell me the approximate drop amount for 2 bunnies of these sizes, that would be extremely helpful. My vet is out of town and anyhow I know that she would stress using the syringe. For reference, we do have the 120ml small dog kind. Thank you.
