Marlee had a heavy molt that started some time in April and lightened up.some time in May. She gets combed every night during salad time. Over the last few days, black-tipped fur has been appearing (her molt start sign) along with the “bad hair day” look to her coat. Tonight I noticed that Moshi’s coat has just a touch of a rough feel to it (his molt start sign). I realize that its August and we’re seeing signs that Fall is coming, but another molt already? I didn’t realize we were done with he last one! Anyone else’s bunnies do this?

Oh ya. Roxi is molting now as well, and Lionel-well, he is just constantly in a state of molt.

When Marlee really gets going, she looks like a patchwork of different colors — peachy brown, “fluff” beige, creamy white, black fur tips at the areas yet to molt, and a large light rust color that doesn’t match anything else on her body and looks like she’s wearing a bad toupee on her back!

              LOL, a bad toupee…
My bunnies never get any kind of molting pattern. All their fur seems to come out evenly. Too bad, Marlee’s temporary coloring sounds so cool!

I don’t think Starsky has stopped Moulting since gotcha day…. Funny, Every bunny I hae that came from the pound seems to be heavy moulters. I wonder if that’s why they were dumped….
The Lady Nermal De Nomnoms is having her first big moult and it’s a shocker, Poor baby girl gets really shirty when I try to help with a spot of plucking but she looks so appalling.LOL

                  DITTO Roberta and her Starsky!
And I’m NOT happy! It took forever for Henry to allow me to pick him up (ok, he doesn’t really allow it – but I learned how to grab him quickly after a coaxing pat!) and I don’t want to anymore!!! I picked him up a few weeks ago for a nail trim and I’m still picking/spitting out bunny fur off my tongue! And I ran my washed clothes through the clothes dryer twice and there is still bunny fluff on them!
Serious – if anyone on BB wants to know what to buy me for my upcoming birthday…. the pet attachment for my new vacuum!!! Hint hint???

I can’t remember a time (even from a baby) that I patted Henry and wasn’t left enough fur to knit a coat on my hand!
(and no JR – don’t tell me to learn how to knit!) LOL!

Oh, yes, my rabbits do this. Spring molt is usually terrible. This year we had another molt in the heat of summer, a hot-weather-molt I think. It barely ended until it was time for fall molt, which is in progress as I write =) A whole lotta molting going on, to paraphrase Jerry Lee Lewis.

My rabbit is molting too the only thing that got me through it is this de-furring this. It’s red with a black handle and it has these string-like things that catch ALL the fur this pick isn’t mine but it gets the ideas across, this thing works AMAZING I get every little bunny fur off of everything!
