Hello! I’m new here and before starting, I’d like to say that I don’t know anything about my rabbit’s history or breed (I need serious help ).

I adopted my bunny at July 6, this year. At first she didn’t want any interaction of any manner, but I can honestly say that she is now a social, happy and healthy little rabbit. I also need to mention that I did not know that my mom bought me a meat rabbit. I honestly did not know what to do, and I still don’t know. I need someone’s insight on this. D:

The reason why I made this thread is because I  noticed a difference in how my rabbit normally stands. I found the source of her discomfort, which is her toes. I trimmed her nails for the second time last week. The first time I trimmed them, she showed no signs of discomfort. I don’t know what happened because nothing changed much. I clean her cage daily, her food and water are always fresh and she has a lot of exercise (She’s a free-range bunny).

I noticed that her claws now point away from the ground and the area around it has no fur and is very dry. Her front paws also twitch a lot and she started resting on her heels. She also seems very lazy, because she doesn’t run around as much at night. I need help, what did I do wrong?

My parents are also very ignorant and they don’t like spending money on pets, so going to the vet isn’t an option for me. I would post photos of my bunny, but I’m using a friend’s laptop. Once I get my laptop back, I’ll definitely add pictures.

I know that your parents don’t really want to spend money on a vet but I would really try hard to convince them otherwise, your rabbit seems like she’s in a lot of discomfort if not pain. Have you noticed any areas on her hind feet or front feet that are missing fur or have sores? It could be something to do with sore hocks. Please for the sake of your rabbit’s well being, do find a way to take her a vet!

Unfortunately, I think this a problem you cannot solve yourself and you need to get to a vet. Could you offer to pay for at least some of the cost of the vet trip?

Could it be a parasite like mites or something?

Pictures would help but I have yet to see any condition you can really treat at home-this would require a vet trip and sounds like it is affecting her comfort. Can you negotiate some chores and help around the house to convince your parents to get you to the vet?

Were you able to get to the vet? How is she doing?
