Hi everyone! I have a few questions about pellets.

First, i’m a pretty experience rabbit owner, and know what to avoid in pellets.

Do you feed your bunnies pellets? How much pellets do you feed your bunny(s) each day? My rabbits (2 rabbits) share 1/4 cup 2 times a day.

What pellets do you feed your bunnies? I am going to keep feeding them pellets, I really like how there coats have been looking on them, and it’s easy if i’m taking them somewhere for a few hours, and hay is too messy.

Are there any brands of pellets (only in the US please), that your buns LOVE? My bunnies are currently eating the Oxbow Adult T rabbit pellets, but they haven’t seemed to interested in them lately.

        Any advice welcome

Oxbow Adult is what I use. My boys will share a 1/4 cup per day, maybe a little less.

I feed my two babies 1/4c each, split between a morning and evening feeding, but they’re still ‘teens’ (four and a half months), so I’m not sure if my vet will have me reduce that amount as they transition to adult food and stop growing so much.

I use Oxbow Adult. 1/8 cup per day per bunny, split between morning and evening. My buns weigh 4.2 lbs, 3.4 lbs, and 3.2 lbs., and all are @ 1 year old. At our last vet visit, the vet told me to keep doing what we’re doing. I would guess some of it depends on the bunny’s weight in relation to it’s size/structure, energy level, age, variety of greens that the bunny eats etc.

My bunnies split a little under 1/4 cup a day, but honestly, Lionel is the only one who eats them, as Roxi is so picky….

Thanks everyone! I think I might lower the amount I feed as well to 1/8 cup 2 times a day. My bunnies get as much hay as they want (usually they eat 1/4 flake a day or more), they drink about half a bowl of water, and 6-8 cups of veggies. Rumpus ways about 4 pounds (he’s not overweight though, a very active bunny ), and Mocha (her breed is a little larger, I read that they were mainly used as meat rabbits!), weighs about 6-6.5 pounds (a little lazier, but not overweight).

Also, how do you feed your bunnies? Pellets in the morning, veggies at night, hay all day? I’ve been feeding them pellets, veggies, hay in morning, and the same in evening. But this way, they seem to only choose one thing to eat (for example, they’ll only eat the pellets or only eat the vegetables) and the rest is just sitting there.

                  Thanks!

I have 2 netherland dwarf rabbits and they get 1/4 cup of pellets split up in to 1/8 cup once in the morning and once at night. They currently eat Kaytee Alfalfa Free Timothy Complete Rabbit Food. I have tried different Oxbow pellets but one will like one kind and the other wont eat it. They both seem to like this one.

Mine typically get a little treat in the morning, veggies in the afternoon, and pellets at bedtime. Obviously hay all day.

Mine get the Oxbow Organic. They get 1/4 cup before bedtime to share (my male is 2.5 lbs and female is 3.0 lbs)

Mine, shockingly, love the Organic (switching them was a breeze, the first night I started mixing it in they chose to eat it before the Basic T pellets) – however, they are more expensive and hard to find right now after the fire at the plant.

Mine get half their pellets in the morning, along with their full allotment of veggies (I feel guilty about leaving them all day!), and half the pellets at night. Hayrack topped up in the morning and evening.

Theodore gets about 1/8 cup of Oxbow Adult every evening. I also feed him a few as treats throughout the day when I want to teach him tricks or when I need to get him somewhere. He loves loves loves the pellets, and is just as motivated by them as he is by any other special treat, which is lucky for me!

Harvey gets about 1/2c pellets in the morning, but he’s a lot bigger than most people’s rabbits he gets hay all day and his veggies at night. He also gets a small amount of craisins first thing in the morning while we are still in bed, and sometimes a few at night.
