My bunny was neutered last week and the vet gave me metacam. I thought it would be hard to give it to him, especially after having to give medicine to my kitten. He resisted, but not my bunny. He gets excited when it’s medicine time. I don’t even have to open his mouth. A few minutes ago I let him out of his cage and the metacam bottle was on the floor. He licked for a second it until I took it away.

I wonder if they add something to it to make bunnies like it?

Did any of your bunnies look forward to their medicine?

All three of mine will lick meds right from the syringe. I have to be careful afterward because I’ve had them try to snatch the syringe and run off with it.

Haha I was afraid mine would do that too.

Kirsty, its funny. Bunny burrito ant of my buns to give them meds and you’d think I was trying to force feed them poison. I found out they ‘d take it willingly out of pure desperation!

Yeah! My bunny gobbles the medicine down. It’s so easy.

The metacam my vet gives me has some kind of flavor too it that my bunnies like. Never have had to worry about meds time they will come running like it’s a treat. XD

My buns like Metacam too. Not sure if my vet flavours it or not but it has sort of a caramel smell to it.

Second. I’d try to give it to Tank and the other two rabbits would try to take it, lol. Since they looked sort of similar sometimes after administering it I’d have a “wait, that WAS Tank, right?” type moment

The vet told me it’s for cats, so it’s flavored like meat, which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

I’ve had to give Tank antibiotics, however–those he did not like, never did. I got him to take them willingly by mixing it in a spoonful of sugarfree applesuace.
