am freaking out a little.
A little background:
My baby Ditsy has had some issues with blood in her urine. It had been off and on for a few months now. At first I thought it was just a little red tint in her urine the first time. It happened one time and completely stopped for three or four months. The second time, it was dark and definitely looked like blood in her urine. I set up and appointment with my vet, Ahola Pet and Animals Hospital (a great vet I must say). I was a little short on money, so on top of the 50$ for the exam alone, they wanted to run a series of tests on Ditsy which totaled 288$ (and I knew antibiotics would be additional cost) so I had to choice one test, which they recommended the x-rays to see if maybe it was a kidney stone or some type of stone that was causing the blood. It came back negative. So they said it maybe from the uterus but could also be an infection. So they gave an antibiotic (Orbax Oral Solution?) and set me up with an appointment at the 10 day, when the medicine was to be completed. I am at Day 9. I am set up for an appointment on Friday to see if it helped ( it did not. She still has blood in her urine, although it looks like not as much). This time is cost me 200$.
On Saturday, I noticed she had not drank nor had she pooped when I went to refill her hay. I was a little concerned but I had just cleaned her cage and her box and figured she just didn’t go it. I gave her veggies and refilled her water bottle. Come Sunday, when I woke that morning, I noticed no poop in her cage whatsoever, her bottle was completely filled and she had not touched her hay at all. Of course I was freaking out at this point. But my vet is closed on Sunday. So, I went to Google God and researched everything I could to help the process along. I gave her lots of greens, massaged her tummy for as long as she would let me and let her run around for a lot longer than I usually do. Her behavior had not changed whatsoever, she was still eating her veggies and she was playing and hopping around out side of her cage. By Sunday night, she was pooping little hard poops, but there was poop. I called the vet and they set up an appointment for the following Tuesday. I kept up what I was doing : massaging the tummy, lots of greens andplaytime. By Tuesday morning, she had pooped so much (you don’t know how happy I am) and she is eating hay and drinking LOTS of water. So I canceled the appointment and kept my original appointment for Friday.
Today, she is completely fine. Pooping and urinating, eating and drink and happy as can be. About an hour ago, I noticed a big blood clot in her cage. She was trying to eat it. She was fine though. She was happy, eating some hay.
I am freaking out! I don’t know if I dislodged it by rubbing and massaging her tummy ( I wasn’t doing it hard) or what. But, I know this is not good. Now, I know I should of gone to the appointment early and I feel horrible.
I don’t know what to do. I am calling tomorrow and seeing if they will see us early in the morning. If not, I think I will have to call around and see if another vet will be able to see us, even thought I love my current one.
I am low on money and I am paying the bill by myself. So, my options are limited one what I can do for her, even though I will try my hardest. What is the best option ( or tests) and what questions should I ask my vet?
Sorry this is so long. I want to make sure I get all the information out so everyone gets a clear picture. Has anyone had this problem before?? What was the outcome??
Oh, and she is not spayed. But, on the last visit, my vet and I discussed it and I was going to schedule for it on the next appointment.
