Hi everyone! Recently my boyfriend got a new job and he will be out of town Monday to Friday. In order to keep me more company while he’s gone we want to get another rabbit so flash isn’t so alone anymore also. I will attach a picture
OF the cage we have now. Also any tips on what kind I should look for to get along with my bun, she’s spayed now

I would get an exercise pen – that cage is pretty small.

Yes, I agree, the cage is almost certainly too small for two buns. Ex pens are great! Or a NIC cage if you have less floorspace available

Do you know the dimensions of your cage? If its the one I’ve seen in our local store, it ‘s not really big enough for one bunny much less two. I think the min space for one bun is like 8 sf (ex 2ft x 4 ft) with 2 bunnies needing twice the floor space.

Sarita and Tessie are right — xpens are great. They are also cheaper, heavier duty, and easier to clean than that type of cage, and can be configured to just about any shape and moved easily.

I think the cage is fine for one bun that is a smaller breed who has outside cage time but two in the same cage would sadly need more space

How big of a cage should I get? In my town they only sell single rabbit cages, is there a good website with bigger cages? Or does anyone know how I can build one maybe with like different levels?

I don’t think you’re going to find a cage you can buy that will be big enough without attaching an xpen or nic to it for extra space. The dog exercise pens (xpens) really are a good deal. Mine are made by Midwest, and I’m almost positive that the Petsmart brand is actually made by them as well. You can get some really good deals on xpens online (watch for free shipping deals too!).

Xpens are great, or you can build a custom NIC condo from shelving grids.
You can check out the “housing” section in bunny info for lots of good ideas!
