I’ve been a long time lurker and I finally decided to make an account to post this question. About 10 minutes ago, I left my room to sweep the bathrooms in the house. In the short amount of time I was gone, Mochi got a hold of the wire from a lamp I put on the windowsill above her cage, pulled it into her cage, and chewed on it for what must have been a good 5 minutes or so until I came back in the room. Thankfully, the lamp was unplugged. She did manage to chew halfway through one spot of the cable and there are smaller nibbles running along the cable. Will she be okay? I put some extra hay inside her cage to help her poop in case the wire causes some sort of blockage and she’s eating it just fine and pooping as well. Is there anything I should look out for?

My trouble makers chewed many a cord(of unplugged things) when they first came home. And my flemish somehow manages to eat everything in my house. lol I never had any problems with them getting sick but just keep a watchful eye

Some how our cookie manages to sneak in and chew cables and all sorts without being noticed… How she has done this and persevered to do more when these things have been plugged in is beyond me.

Many a cable has been sheered within a second or two. So fast and so dam sharp those teeth they like a knife through bread.

My bun is so sneaky. She’s mastered the “looks like I am just sniffing it, I am actually chewing it” Her favourite wire is the phone charger wire. That went in seconds. Just make sure the bun doesn’t attack a live wire. It’s amazing what they can ingest with little or no affect.

Hay, water and watch her pooping but she’ll probably be fine. Mine have eaten so many wires after breaking down my barricades I just sigh and try to repair them nowadays.
