I was having issues with Reese chewing up my carpet. She never tried to eat it she just wanted to tear it out. So I went to the dollar store and got a pack of the fluffiest washcloths (not very fluffy its the dollar store) and threw one in there. She loves chewing on the edges and trying to pull out the threads and doesn’t seem to care about the carpet as much as before.

It is good that you have found a solution, but do be careful. The threads in the washcloth could easily unravel and wind around her teeth, and are not digestible if she does ingest any. I would only do this under supervision.

My cookie does the same. Chews the side of the carpet and literally eats it though.

We keep covering it up, saying ‘NO’ – clap hands etc.

            The little tinker !

Peanut absolutely LOVES chewing up the carpet, he will dig away, chew it up and move onto another part. In our house we have filled a water bottle with a few drops of natural lemongrass/teatree oil, then filled it with water. We spray this on the carpet edges about 5 minutes before letting him out and he must hate the smell because he no longer touches those areas of the carpet!!

Suprisingly she never pulls the threads all the way out of the wash cloth. She pulls on them until they are just really long then goes to another spot. We also discovered that she enjoys it much more when it is slightly damp. She still loves it.
