I was just wondering if it’s easier to bond rabbits female to male or female to female. This is just a question, don’t be suspecting any additions anytime soon!

My bonded pair are male/female, and when I tried to bond all three of mine, it was the girls who fought.

Darn, I was hoping to hear that Moxie was getting a boyfriend!

Lol! My baby girl is growing up! She’s a year old on Friday! Still, no boyfriends yet! (Now I’m sounding like my Dad! )

In our experience, yes, it matters quite a bit.

It only took a couple of weeks to get one neutered male and spayed female together, but it has taken us since January to get two spayed females to become close…

Navi and Daisy, they just wouldn’t accept each other, both very strong willed, territorial buns…

Two females has proved to be a lot harder and more time consuming.

Usually male/female seems to work the best. You can certainly do same sex bonding but it is more challenging.

So is it just a female to female bond that’s difficult, or are male to male bonds hard too?

I don’t think gender matters much during bonding (as long as both are spayed/neutered). The big deciding factor is usually personality which is why bunny dates can help a lot when picking a partner for your bunny.

I’m with MD in that the personality matters way more than the gender. If you can find two personalities that match, the gender doesn’t really matter.
I was hoping Moxie was getting a husbun!
