What is the best vacuum to pick up rabbit bedding, hay and poops?
I have a shark vacuum and it keeps getting clogged.
        Thanks

          A Shop Vac.

No upright vacuum can do hay afaik. A shop vac or other limited tubing vacuum that is easily cleaned out.

Another shop vac here. The contractor one with the large diameter hose is practically clog proof. Well, unless your bunny buries toys in a pike of litter and you try to suck up the pile (yes, it happened . . .). I have accidently sucked up apple wood sticks, 12″ willow sticks, and oxbow timothy hay twists (the big fat ones) without clogging the shop vac. You do have to be careful when running the vac when the bunnies are around — one of mine got a little too close and it scared both of us.

JackRabbit – I am so glad I am not the only one that has had a close call vacuum vs bunny incident! Lola is not scared of anything (except being up high) she will run right up to the vacuum cleaner and stick her nose right in! We didn’t have a problem until she tried to turn around and got way too close to the hose.

Yep, Marlee keeps her distance now. Moshi, naaah. Face (almost one time), tail twice. I’ve started taking them out in the hall while hubby vacs. Unfortunately, they also like to sit behind the shop vac in the “wind” when its running too so sometimes I just have to play interference between the buns and the shop vac hose while hubby vacs!

I’m lucky on that part. My bunny’s hate the vacuum and will hop into their cage and into their house.

Has anyone tried the pet Roomba? We have the regular one, and it is wonderful, but all of bunny’s soft fine fur clogs it up constantly. We always sweep up loose hay before running it, and would still if we got a new pet Roomba.

We were using a combo of a Dyson pet vac and a shop vac. I have to give kudos to the Dyson – it takes a lot of abuse and keeps running. It’s even survived several run ins with my husband’s temper and being thrown across the room. Lol that being said, the shop vac works best. Our only problem is we got one with a small canister so it needs emptied often. Here in the new place, a broom is working pretty well

I use a Dyson as well. Its the best vacuum I have ever bought. If there are big pieces of hay and stuff I do pick it up by hand and then use the dyson. A shop vac is a good idea to use as well I am just too lazy to go out to the garage and lug it in through the house. I also want to get a hand held vacuum for small stuff but haven’t gotten one yet.

Hmm, I should try a dyson or something. But I love the convenience of the robotic vacuum. Set it running before leaving for work, and come back to a vacuumed house. We also find it highly entertaining when Sweetie jumps on it to turn it on and rides around on it for a few seconds.

I am currently saving up for a Dyson! The one we have just doesn’t hold up against bunny fur.
