I always put my bunnies on the stairs at night to go back to the bunny room, since they won’t hop across the tile in front of the stairs. As I was putting down Mr. Bunny, he got spooked and jumped onto the stairs. He lost his footing and slid down about 6-7 carpeted stairs. He hopped down the rest of the stairs after that. He seems fine now – I hugged him and checked him over a bit, and he seemed scared, but otherwise fine. He was chasing around Ms. Rabbit, wanting head pets, and eating hay normally. All this just happened about 45 minutes ago. Is he OK? Could it take a while for any injuries to manifest themselves?

Take a breath FB… As bunny mummy to Blossom Knievel I know how you feel…. If he slid down the steps then he probably escaped injury. That he is already moving is a good sign. He may have some muscle soreness tomorrow so keep an eye on him and watch for any restriction of movement or discomfort. Monitor poops and eating. Bunnies are good at hiding pain but if you know what to look for you can keep ahead of it. You could book a vet check but in the interim just watch and make sure he is eating and drinking normally and not favouring any limbs. And above all, do not blame yourself, bunnies do these things from time to time and we can’t always stop them. It’s like living with a two year old that doesn’t grow up.

Thanks. I’ll keep a close eye on him.Now that I think about it more, I think he slid down face-first on his belly – so unless he got a foot bent under himself or something, I don’t think he could have seriously injured anything. I’ve had him for 5 1/2 years, so I know how to spot when he’s not feeling well. If he’s acting even a little off, he’ll go to the vet ASAP.

              Mr Bunny!
They still find ways to frighten us don’t they?!
Hope you see all is still well by the next day.

You might notice him lose a bit of confidence on the stairs for a while.
