We would like to get Dusty a girlfriend, he is 4 and a half months old and nearly ready to be desexed. We have researched about how to bond them etc. What I want to know is some guidelines as to bonding an 8 week old female who is obviously not desexed with a desexed male. They are both the same breed etc.

Is this possible is so is there anything I do specifically?

        Thanks!

Everyone is going to tell you that it’s a bad idea.

Breed, age, size, color, those factors are all completely irrelevant when bonding.

The most important step is that both are fixed and you’ve waited for a month after the surgery. Some people don’t wait quite that long, but if you’re inexperienced, I definitely strongly recommend it.

Yeah, they need to both be neutered to be bonded

I thought you guys might say that.

Luckily I have the chance to adopt a bunny from the shelter. The bunny is a full sized lop, about 2 years old and female. She is desexed.

Would she be suitable for my crossbreed male once he is desexed?

Can you take your bunny to meet her and see how they react? There is really no way to tell if two bunnies are going to get on or not. Breed, size and age very rarely make any difference. It’s all in the personality. The good news is that MOST buns are bondable, some just take a lot more time and effort.

I would recommend going for the shelter bunny. You can take your current bun to meet her. This will give you an idea of how well they might bond (although first impressions are not always a guarantee).
