This is in no way a bad thing. Certainly a relief for me!

Cash hates syringes. They are apparently the bane of his existence. He got neutered yesterday, and the vet gave me his pain/anti-inflammatory meds. ((1.5 ml of Meloxicam)) It’s syringes to be taken twice a day. I cringed and imagined the medicine everywhere except in his mouth. The vet recommended I chop up banana’s and mix it with it.

Alright. It looked pretty thick and goopy, but nope. As thin as water.  My bad feelings only got worse. So I mixed it with the banana, put the syringe aside, and gave it to him. And holy hells I was floored.

He gobbled it up, licked the plate like my mother’s shepherd will if you give him any special human treats, and continued to lick the plate until it was way past clean. Then he hopped over, found the syringe next to me, and proceeded to lick that completely clean.

So for the second dose this morning…. I just poured it right into a small saucer for him. And he went to town, licking every inch of it clean. Then looked at me, then back at the dish, almost as if he were trying to tell me to give him more! Admittedly I am still pretty stunned. I was not expecting that! I’m so relieved though that this was not a fight!

Has anyone had a bunny go insane with enjoyment over medicine like this? It’s just strange to me.

Also he is doing great. The incision area is clean and no longer inflamed. He shows no signs of being in pain. He’s alert, and so super snuggly. I can’t ask for anything more! He’s like a whole new rabbit. Normally within ten minutes he’d get aggressive being around me and bite, but last night he just laid in my lap for hours enjoying being petted, and whenever I stopped he grunted, thumped, and shoved his head under my hand to demand more rubs!

Neutering was the best decision I made!

I just hold the syringe and mine lick the meds from the syringe while I slowly dispense the meds. I have to be careful because when the syringe is empty two of mine will try to jerk the syringe out of my hand and run off with it (they just know there ‘s more in there and I’m just not giving it to them!). My other bun just gives me the “I wantz more please” look.

Sooooo much better than it used to be when we tried to force it! The buns must be in control!

Cash keeps giving me the I want more look.

He still wont let me near his mouth with the syringe though. :/

Weird rabbit. I will agree. He must always be in control, or think he is anyway. LOL.

If the medicine is Meloxicam, I totally understand! One of my bunnies loved that stuff.

They typically flavor bunny medicines, to make them willing to take it. Many will lick the medicine like it’s a treat because of that. My vet mixes all oral medications with pineapple margarita mix.

                    lol I guess so. It’s non-alcoholic though.
