        Hello!
I was just playing with my baby girl when I saw that her heels on her back feet seem to be red. I never noticed them before, but maybe I just wasn’t paying attention before… I had her on her back to check her nails to see if they needed cut and I saw her feet. But they weren’t sore, and she didn’t struggle when I touched them. I attached a picture. Is this normal? I just figured it was like a human heel, kind of rough from walking but wanted to make sure.
        …aaaaand the picture isn’t coming up…

It’s normal to remove a pad of fur and see a pale pink callus on the bottom of your rabbits feed. If they look very red, are cracked, or are bleeding this means your rabbit has sore hocks and you should go to the vet.

Do they look like they are hurting her? You can put Preparation-H or Bag Balm on them to help them heal. You can press black tea bags on the callus/sores twice a day for 5 minutes each to help harden the callus’s and prevent them from cracking.
I used Preparation-H and it did seem to heal my bunnies sore’s.

What is the flooring in her area like?

I talked to the vet and she said that it is probably nothing but if it gets worse then I’ll take her in or get some the Bag Balm stuff, I think I sill have some anyway from when we had horses, (unrelated note, they are awesome companions). Aaaand I know its not for the floor that she’s on because she’s a spoiled brat and is always on carpet…

My vet wasn’t much help on this (found everything I need on here). Once you know how to cure them, you can just do it yourself. My bunny Mocha thumps a lot and thats why she had sores (switched her to 3 layered bathroom mats,2 towels, and fleeces).

Carpet can actually irritate the hocks of some bunnies.
