Today was the day. Merlin has come home a bit punch drunk from aneasthesia but the vet said he was all fine. As soon as we got him home he went straight into his hide and curled up with blankie. Ive left him some bits of carrot, hay, lettuce, and pellets tp tempt him and to pick and choose at. So far hes had a snall piece of carrot and half a grape. He has moved about a little and made a valiant attempt at the litterbox.
All his poos are small and soft and a dark colour, but at least hes going, right? The vet warned me he’d be off his food and to keep an eye, in peoples experience how long until their boys started eating like little.machines again? Merlin usually nearly takes my hand off when i put his food bowl down!

Finally: ive had no pain meds given BUT i have been given a bottle of syrup to give him 3 times a day. Is that normal? Merlun hatessss veing handled, anysuggestions on a less stressful way to administer? At the moment the boyfriend holds him between his knees and i gently syringe it in but…. suggestions welcome. Please tell me of neutering experiences! V worried mom here!

I have a female but it took her a whole day to eat anything.

Lola hates being given meds too but I found if I hold the syringe out to her she will just lick it as I push the plunger. If I don’t do it fast enough she will grab it out of my hand!
