        I’ll start by introducing myself!

Hello, my name is Abby and I’ve only just recently become a bunny mumma! I’ve always loved animals and so far (touch-wood) I’ve had good luck with them (not being attacked etc.)! I’ve always wanted pets but my mum never allowed me to have any, for the usual reasons ‘you’ll not take care of them’ ‘you’ll get bored’ ‘I’ll end up doing all the work’ but after researching rabbits and their care needs for around 3 years (no joke) she finally realized that I was serious about it and now I have my lil’ fur babies  (and a hamster, he’s fab) I don’t really do much in my spare time, most people go out and get drunk etc… I sit at home and cuddle with the boyfriend and sit with the buns.. I’m on the computer quite a lot too  Hopefully I’ll do well with exams and then I can go on and pursue my dream… going to uni and qualifying as a vet

woah I blab on a lot ha ha! Time for the bunnies!

Sapphire is bunbun No.1: The people from the pet shop told us she was a girl and since she won’t let us check, she can stay a girl for now haha! (any tips on holding a bun on their back or even leaning them on their back without them kicking and squirming like mad?) She is around 10/11 weeks old now and we got her on 15/6/14 from a pet shop, she was about 5 weeks old at the time  She hasn’t had the best start to life really, her old cage-mate, Midnight (my other bun) and her have had a couple of tussles so have had to be separated.. twice! The first time she was really depressed so we put them back together and kept an eye on the at all times  everything was fine so we let them be.. until a few nights ago when we found a few wounds on each of them (nothing too serious, don’t worry)  so now they are permanently separated until they are both de-sexed then we can hopefully re-bond them! Sapphire seems to be fine on her own for now and not too lonely.. she was dancing to swan lake last night

        time for bunbun No.2……

Midnight! Midnight is a lovely boy, he does have a rather feminine name but there is a reason for that  The people in the pet shop thought that he was also a girl.. me and the boyfriend saw that to be wrong when I found balls on him.. haha!! Too late though, he was already named midnight  He loves digging and biting at his fleece blanket and has now started doing it to my pyjamas.. when I’m wearing them! He sneezes quite a lot compared to sapphire so will remember to ask the vet about that when I’m next there! Also the past few days he’s been making a strange noise, it’s like a mixture of tooth grinding and sort of grunting?! what?! It’s not really loud so you can’t hear it when I tried to record it (damn!) but he especially does it when he’s eating, grooming himself and he did it a bit when I was petting him last night+this morning?  He used to be the more timid one but now Sapphire is, she used to love being stroked but not any more

        oh well.. TIME FOR PICTURES!

         their first night home!

        taming

they were pretty confident taking food from my hand then.. now they demand it in their bowl haha

Sapphire trying to be a loaf of bread..  (yesterday)

she has the decency to cover her bunny butt with her tail

Midnight wondering what to do next

Midnight actually letting me stroke him

I think thats all for now guys thanks for reading

Welcome to BinkyBunny! Your bunnies are so cute!
They should calm down towards you and each other once they are fixed.

Thanks! I’m de worming them at the moment and they just won’t sit still or take the medicine. Any tips?

Wow they are so cute!! I can’t wait to add a boy to my brood. I had to nurse my bun when I first got her as she was far too young. I suggest using a baby syringe, (no needle) and plopping it in the side of their mouth. And SLOWLY letting the meds go down. I’d have my bf hold them for the moment, he should hodl them firmly on the back and not let those hind legs kick at all.

Aw thanks kass! The medicine is already in a little syringey thing with no needle, its one the vet gave us (and I’m sure ripped us off with, ha ha!) One of them (Midnight) will take it no problem as he likes to wrestle the syringe when we put it in his mouth, he’s a funny bun but the other one (Sapphire) just will not stay still! Me and the BF will try that tomorrow how should we hold her head still? She wiggles it like mad when we try to put the syringe near her XD

Have you tried just holding the syringe for her to smell (while she’s just sitting around and not being held — like its a treat)? If you’re lucky, she’ll lick it and you can just let her lick it from the syringe while you slowly dispense it. I got tired of fighting my buns over meds and tried it one day. All three of mine lick meds right from the syringe whenever they have to take any.
