        Hi everyone!

I want to teach Poopsy to drink from a bowl.. He drinks from the water bottle but I know he doesn’t get as much water as he wants, it makes a LOT of noise and he goes nuts with it haha

Do you guys have any tips? He’s 1 year old now, his birthday was on sunday

        Thank you =)

He shouldn’t really need to be ‘taught’.
Have you tried giving him a bowl of water? He should work it out!
Bowls are a more natural way for them to drink.

            Happy birthday Poopsy!

I leave a bowl of water out for Henry while I wash his bottle in the dishwasher (I’m lazy! and the dishwasher cleans it REALLY well!), but Henry has never taken a drink from it. In my/Henry’s case, I don’t think he’s thirsty, cause I’m sure if he was, he would drink out of the toilet! (He’s a bit naughty like that – he he he he…). Just leave the bowl out, and like Tessie said, Poopsy will work it out.
I use the bottle cause Henry sheds his fur 24/7 every week of the year and a bowl of water is covered in his fluff in minutes – I find the bottle cleaner for him. But that’s the only reason I use it. I think you should offer both – the bottle and a bowl.

            Cheers Nikkii.

I get the dishwasher cleaning the bottle itself, but does the dishwasher get the spout clean? I’m still using a little brush and pipe cleaners on the spouts. Takes me forever to get everything done.

YEP! I’m that lazy JR! Ha ha ha ha….. but I do a mega rinse routine after and the spout (looking with a pen torch) cleans well too. My spout is a metal of some sort, I’m not sure if that makes a difference? But I still have my brushes and wouldn’t hesitate to give it a good internal scrub if the dishwasher didn’t do the trick. I also chuck it in the dishwasher weekly, so I hope a regular wash at a high temp keeps it clean before it gets dirty.
But as of today – not my problem JR! If you have any concerns relating to Henry please address them to my hubby – Henry’s new owner!

                LOL!!!

I’ve used raisins to teach him, I put them over the water so when he tries to eat it he will drink water also haha so he know the bowl is there and what it contains.. Today I’ll see if he goes there by himself! if not.. oh well, may the noise come again xD

thank you all so much <3

Have you checked the water flow from the bottle by hand? Sometimes my son changes Porky’s water, and one time he put it back at a funny angle and the water wasn’t flowing, I found out b/c of the noise Porky made trying to get it to work. Now, after I hang the bottle, I just tape it with my finger a few times to make sure it is working.

Oh Eepster, now I have to admit what I did (dam you! ha ha ha).

I think it was the second or third week we had Henry and I screwed the lid on to ‘tight’, and Henry drank and drank but his water level didn’t reduce and when I became suspicious I watched for ‘bubbles’ that didn’t appear. I quickly loosened it and to this day (well over a year later) when I refill his bottle, I do the same ‘tap’ that Eepster does, AND as soon as I hear him taking a drink I quickly run to check for ‘bubbles’! I am that paranoid now and every time I think back I am sick that I deprived him of water and that he was thirsty. Why I think both should be offered.
Henry still only has his bottle, but like I said, I am ‘super’ vigilant now and Henry’s fluff does make it hard to offer a bowl.

                        Hi guys

just wanted to update you! After 2 days, Poopsy started to use the bowl it took a bit more than I expected but he finally did it! Thank you all

And I tried other bottles before and it as all the same, so the bowl is a better option
