Hi, if there is already a thread about this please forward.

My bun’s BACK right heel, the pad where there is not really any fur was bleeding. I rapped her into a towel and cleaned it. But before I put pressure on it, it was bleeding everywhere. she is ok not, the bleeding stopped… but there is nothing she could of hurt it on? there is nothing on my floors. I don’t think its sore hocks…?

is this something that just happens because its a bald callused area? I know this bun roams the house instead of a grass and dirt area, which can be hard on the pads (so I hear) however, her nails are clipped well.

So its fine now.. just not sure if this is something other house bunnies experience?

waiiiittt… are the tiny little heels bald and a little callused?

The heels aren’t meant to be bald. If she has dry skin, its very red and bleeding, then its most probably sore hocks. You shouldn’t really ever let your rabbit live on wood/concrete/plastic floors unless you have rugs down. Anything that is hard will really grind away the fur and then the skin leaving nasty grazes that can become very sore and painful and if not cared for, infected! I’m not really too sure on how you treat it but I’d make sure that your rabbit does not longer live on a hard surface.

I just answered a Sore Hocks issue so I’m giving you a link to that. I’m assuming it’s sore hocks.
