Since yesterday my bunny has been acting very weird. He gets very scared if I get close to him and runs away, making himself slip and sometimes “faceplant” in the door/wall. He also gets very scared from the slightest of sounds. It got me very very worried. He also breaths very fast. Faster than usual.

Do you have any idea as to why? I can’t think of anything. He didn’t get scared so easily.

He’s not neutered and he has ~10-11 months.

          He’s running into the walls?
That sounds concerning, I think you should take him to the vet!

Perhaps he heard a predator outside. I know Bumpy has reacted on two different occasions VERY scared. He spun wheels trying to get traction one night inside his cage, ran out and under a chair, he was terrified! He actually peed on himself he was so scared. The next day I found evidence of a fox outside, no more than 20 ft from where his cage is inside the house.

He’s not doing so by purpose – I have no rugs on the floor, except under my chair, so the floor is very slippery for him when he runs very quickly. I take him to the vet on a monthly basis, and last time we went was just two days ago. I found manic_muncher‘s more suitable, since my mother tried approaching him after she had just petted a dog. So I think its from its smell.

That sounds like the problem of my own bunny’s behavior. Could be from my mother’s clothing and all, since she petted a dog and played with it, followed by  a cat. So I suppose its the mixture of their smells that stuck on her, because he calmed down a bit.

Yeah bunnies have very strong sense of smell and hearing so they can scent/hear predators from very far away. Your rabbit may have either, like you said, smelt the scent of your cat/dog or he may have heard something indoors or outdoors. You said he seems to slide a lot because of the floor which probably scares him even more as he feels like he can’t run away. My rabbit can sometimes hear the dogs downstairs and when they bark it really startles her so I have to hug her tight and stroke her for 5 minutes to calm her down and feel safe again.
It’s most probably nothing to worry about and just his natural instincts kicking in however if his behaviour starts to get peculiar in anyway it could be an issue. Rabbits are the BEST at hiding illness as they are prey animals so they do their best to stop anyone from detecting that they’re weak. They only do this so that them dont seem vulnerable.
