I have a bunny I recently adopted, I believe she is about a year old.

Whenever I feed her she seems to go crazy for the food and eat like she hasn’t eaten in a year… She knows where her food is kept (she is a house bunny) and gets excited whenever anyone goes near there.

Is this typical behaviour and shes just greedy or does it mean I am not feeding her enough?

        In a day

Hay all day basically as much as she wants

Handful of veg at breakfast – all sorts of greens & usually a chunk of cucumber

Then usually she will get something when I Have my lunch because shes begging – so a small handful of greens and somedays a piece of fruit or a few strawberries

At dinner time I give her a handful of rabbit food pellets

about 8pm she gets some more greens usually

She is usually running around the house with me, so if I go to the fridge and she;s near she’ll get a piece of celery or a slice of cucumber so she does sort of snack throughout the day as well.

Is this enough? She’s active and not losing weight as far as I can see

        Thanks! xx

It sounds like she is eating just fine… Bunnies are just pigs.. They like food and they will eat anything they fancy a bit like children.. It’s up to us to make sure they eat well and not too much… I have a bunny on a diet at the moment and the fits of temper when he doesn’t get extra pellets are atrocious… But he is a healthier bunny now and does not look like a brown and white spotted beach ball.
