Most of the time Harvey is quite standoffish when it comes to being touched – if I stroke his back he drops his back and pretty much commando crawls away. But sometimes, just sometimes, he seems to enjoy it. I have to be patting him with both hands down the length of his body, one straight after the other, and he will flatten onto the ground completely, eventually kicking his feet out behind him. His eyes sometimes start to close and he will occasionally grind his teeth. Last night a similar sort of thing happened when I scratched his head – he dropped his head to the floor, closed his eyes and started grinding his teeth. It’s like he assumes he won’t enjoy being touched but if I catch him off guard he realises it’s actually quite nice, then forgets again as soon as I stop

I get the exact same commando crawl from Moshi. My M&Ms prefer ear rubs, cheek rubs, and head pets over full body strokes, but I love feeling that think soft fur so I sneak in full body rubs any time I can. Kieko loves any kind of pets and, once she finishes her “work” (chinning everything, peeing in the community litterbox 20 times, and thoroughly marking the play area as hers), she will flop right next to me for head pets and full body massage!
