Hey guys, I was just looking for some opinions on litter, which us bunny parents know can get pricey!
I was using wood stove pellets, but personally find them messy and don’t like that they turn to sawdust. I’ve now bought a bag of carefresh, which I have used before and love! But it’s quite expensive. I was lastly thinking of buying a shredder and just doing shredded paper, but I know its not too absorbent (how often would I have to change jumbo cat pans – daily?) I’m just debating between shredded paper and carefresh.
Any other ideas are welcome too!

I use Carefresh but try to order it online when Petco has 30 or 40 percent off total purchase sale plus free shipping. Last time, I ordered 15 of the 60 liter bags. They are, however, stacked in my bedroom and in the bunny room! They seem to have this sale every 2 months or so. I signed up for their sale email notices.

Can you continue using the WSP as the “base litter” for absorbency and odor control, but then put a thin layer of carefresh over top?

Beka, that is what I am going to start doing!
I left for the weekend (had a bunny sitter of course!), so bought Aspen shavings and Carefresh as a quick find (as I ran out of the WSP – which is when I decided to switch) and blended them together, and I absolutely HATE the Aspen, it is much less absorbent (I found out when I got home); but I think a layer of Carefresh over the WSP will solve my ‘sawdust’ dilemma, while still cutting down on costs.

              Thanks for the idea!
