We are going to pick up our new bunny Berry on Sat.  We are going to be bringing Lola with so they can meet on extremely neutral ground and so that Berry’s mom can see how they interact initially. When we get him home should I put his cage by Lola’s condo so they can see/smell each other or should I put him in a different room?

I’m sure our “super-bonders” cab give you the best answer, but personally, I would put him in a separate room at first to let him settle in and get comfortable with his new surroundings and with you. It just seems like an awful lot of stress for the little guy to move to a new home and straight in the room with an unfamiliar bunny if you can help it. When we got our bonded pair, we didn’t have a choice and had to have them in the same room as Kieko. Kieko was a crazy bunny — we had to cover one side of her condo to calm her down. I believe we got off on the wrong foot by doing this and it hindered our bonding efforts. We’re on a long bonding break now.

Gee, I don’t know Jen…. I’m no bunny expert on bonding and not sure if bonding bunnies are ‘totally’ different to dog’s??? But when Henry came home we let him meet the dog’s in the first hour of his arrival (I’m sure it was wrong), but it worked a treat. I would have thought to let them smell and see each other (not touch) would be good???
Yep, ignore me (ha ha ha) and wait for someone who knows to give you some advice. In any case, congratulations (again) – I’m SO excited for you!

JR – I have been going back and forth with this question for a week now. I don’t want to stress him out to bad but it would be a lot easier if I just put them both in the living room (where Lola’s condo is now). My step kids are coming for to visit and the only other rooms to put him in would be in one of their rooms. I could put him on our room but my husband is like a furnace so we have it quite a bit cooler in there at night than the rest of the house and I am worried it would be too cold for her.

Thanks AndHenry! We are super excited too! I won’t ignore you, at the very least I always know you are reading my questions!
