        Hi,

We had 2 bunnies who had been a bonded pair for a couple of years. Jack, who we bought from a pet store when he was a few months old, seemed to need a companion. So after we had had him for nearly a year we adopted Amelia, who was about a year older than he was. They bonded (it took a couple of months) and were then very close. However, Amelia had health issues almost from the start and unfortunately she died yesterday. They had been together for just under 2 years. Jack seems quite despondent. Does anyone have any experience with how long one should wait before trying to find him a new companion? He is allowed free roam of the first floor of our house for most of the day and we give him a good bit of attention but he seems to need bunny love too.

I’m so sorry, that’s awful. I haven’t had to deal with this yet, but if there’s a rescue or something nearby that would allow meet-n-greets with potential mates, whenever you are ready you could take him there for speed dates. If he’s not interested in any of them, I’m sure he’ll let you know! Both of my bunnies are over the hill, so when that day comes that’s what I plan to do.
