hey all, i just got my 1st bunny(a 2.5mths old female ND) 2 weeks ago and i’ve been trying to toilet train her since. ive manged to train her to poop into her litterbox but she keeps insisting of peeing (since 5 days ago) into her food/haybowl and soaking all her pellets and hay. i’ve tried switching the position of the food bowl around but it doesnt work, i constantly clean out her pee-soaked food bowl with rabbit safe disinfectant every morning so could it be something to do with scent? anyone have any tips please do let me know, thanks in advance!

Have you tried putting her pee-soaked pellets and hay into her litterbox? Or putting the box where the food bowls are right now?

Her hay should be in the litterbox, not with the food, as bunnies eat hay while they go to the toilet. This might help.

The disinfectant also might not remove the smell, you could try vinegar.

Hi sorry for the late reply! thanks for all the suggestions!

Here’s an update, this morning she did not pee into here food bowl!  and as usual she came running out of her cage when she sees me early in the morning and this time she came and peed all over my feet and floor. i then went away to get paper towels and when i was back, she(probably feeling guilty) was helping to clean the floor by licking her own pee and then coming to lick my feet

Leeza- Yup i’ve been doing that to all her poop and pee, her hay/food bowl is positioned in such a way that she must sit on the litterbox to eat, but she poops into the litter box no problem but she always climbs onto the food bowl just to pee on it!

Tessie- her hay is sort of beside the litterbox in such a way she has to be on the litterbox just to reach her food and hay, heres a pic to show the kind of food/hay bowl i got http://www.petloverscentre.com/mini…view=large…i shall try using vinegar to clean it!
