I went to three different stores today looking for NIC cubes and I can’t seem to find them anywhere! Does anyone know where I can find them?

I found mine at Target but they were clearanced and was a mix of the 1″ squares and the bigger ones. (It turned out ok because they were clearanced I could buy enough to make her condo and still spent less than full price.) I went back to see if they had more anywhere but the only place I can find them now is online. Amazon had some for a reasonable price.

If you’re in Florida go look at Bed, Bath and Beyond. They’re the best that you can find. The ones in Target and Walmart are very cheap in comparison. You can, also, order them online through the company.

When you get them and start building, don’t skimp on the zip ties. Add criss-crossed zip ties wherever 4 grids meet (do corner criss-crosses after shape is set). Makes it super sturdy!

Dido Jackrabbit. I used the smaller-ish sized zip ties so I could do two zip ties per square and did criss crossed ones where they met. =]

I was in Lowes when we were building Kieko’s condo. I think the zip ties we used were indoor/outdoor ones that were like 8 or 10 inches long (lots to cut off). We had been back and forth to so many places looking at flooring remnants that hubby said “whatever kind they have is what we’re getting”! They’ve held up nicely. I’ve even tripped on my son’s backpack and fallen on the condo and it didn’t budge! Having both a condo setup and a huge xpen setup now . . . the xpen is so much easier (nothing to put together, no decisions to make . . .!)

BB&B sometimes have two types, so just peek to make sure it is the right size. I don’t use a cage, but I do have NIC storage for clothes. I got mine from amazon, free shipping and $20 or so a box (4 panels a cube, 4 cubes a box). They are so cheap and sturdy.

I haven’t ordered from this site but another member mentioned:

I believe they sell their grids for like .95 cents each.

I couldn’t find any at Walmart recently, so I did some Amazon searching, and if you want to make a pretty big condo, these are sets of 48 squares:

                                http://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Squares-Making-Cubbies-Black/dp/B0028SHGGS/ref=pd_sbs_hg_11?ie=UTF8&refRID=0HYQEPRGRHF1Y27AN0WV – 10″ x 10″ – $58.55 + $17.38 shipping
                                http://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Squares-Making-Cubbies-Black/dp/B0028SHGNQ/ref=pd_sim_sbs_hg_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=0WTZJHT713JJ6EX78JQS – 14″ x 14″ – $76.40 with free shipping

The cost ends up being pretty much the same for both of them, once you consider shipping.

It seems like a lot up front, but it could be better than buying a bunch of smaller packs. They DO NOT come with the little circle connectors, but most of the instructions I’ve seen don’t use those parts anyways.

Amazon has been giving away 30 days free amazon prime with orders recently as well, which might cut down on shipping (amazon prime is free 2 day shipping on a ton of items).
