I have 2 buns that are just a year old.  They’ve been pretty consistent with using their litter box, just an occassional accident and random “cocoa puffs”.  We built them a big 3 level townhouse to give them more space and use a dog yard gate outside it to allow them to come out and roam pretty free while having access to their main cage when we are home.  Everything went well for 2 weeks but now they’ve started peeing on the towels lining their shelves and it appears wet paws are kicking pee all over the walls behind and around the cage. They’ve been getting pretty messy.  They also started chewing the plastic coating on the wire shelf wall cubes used to make their town house.  They appear very happy in their new home and coming running to get attention when they see us.  That is the only other big change is they are in our dining room instead of bedroom but again they seem so very happy to be where we are, so much more social now.  I’m thinking of changing them back to their old large cage or perhaps make their townhouse only a 2 level instead of 3.  Maybe they are getting lazy to hop down to pee?  Any one have any suggestions?

          Are they neutered?
What kind of house did they have before?

Often buns like to pee on soft things, so could it be the towels?

How many litterboxes do they have? In our three story condo, Kieko has two litterboxes. Our lops have a large xpen area with two open-door dog crates (one of the dog crates has two litterboxes and hay feeders – “the kitchen/bathroom”; the other crate has two beds -“the bedroom”). We’re going to add a third litterbox (huge) and hay feeder for the rest of the area. We get no pee accidents but definitely stray poops in the kitchen/bathroom — mainly because Moshi likes to rearrange the litter.

            Maybe try adding another litterbox?
