Hey guys, so I woke up to a loud scuffling and banging noise this morning. Worried about the buns, since the noise didn’t sound like their normal binkying into a wall, I went out to check on then. It seems that Hugo, Skipper, and Ian had all broken out of their cages sometime this morning. Ian and Hugo seem to be the ones that got into the fight and Skipper later joined in to defend her man. I cleaned the wounds and every bun is put into their respective cages and are relatively calm. I am wanting to take the buns to the vet, the bf on the other hand doesn’t see the need for it since “the bites aren’t that bad”. Should we still take them in? (He’s figuring that since we’re “experienced” bunny owners we shouldn’t have to bring them in and can take care of it ourselves. >=[ )

Was any skin broken? How many bites – where were the bites? Bites can become infected and result in abscesses and infection.

Even the most experienced rabbits owners can’t always avoid the vet.

Skin was broken. =[ Ian has a few around his mouth and those worry me. And Hugo has a biggish bite on his side. I’m just going to take them in and not give him a choice. Really super annoyed with him though because he’s more worried about getting sleep than making sure the buns are okay.

I think it’s better to be safe than sorry – minimizing any risk of infection now will be much less worrisome and costly than waiting in my opinion.

Bunnybrigade, If you want to take them in to the vet (and I think you should) then take them in. I know you want to respect your BF’s opinion but it’s a two way street and the bunnies can’t speak for themselves.

Thanks Sarita and Roberta that’s what I thought too. It’s just frustrating because the vet is an hour and a half away and I don’t know how to do that drive. So it leaves me reliant on the bf to take me and the buns. I’m taking them in, though. They’re just having their morning veggies before I pack them up to be looked at.

Google Maps, it’s awesome… You can print out the route and it will tell you how many minutes at what speed between each turn.

I hope Hugo and Ian are healing up fine, and that nobody decides to have a “party” again.
