Luna is the newest bun in our trio. Since none are yet bonded – they are all in separate areas.

Luna doesn’t seem to be eating great. She is eating. Just not what I expected for a 6.5lb rabbit. She doesn’t seem to like the pellets. She eats a TON of greens. Eats hay so-so. Pooing/peeing fine. Drinking well. Likes a seed type treat my one kid gave her. LOVES carrots. Won’t touch apples. (who ever heard of a bun who doesn’t love apple?!)

I don’t think it’s a vet type thing – I’m just wondering if maybe it’s taking her longer to acclimate? Licorice and Chipper seem to go through “spurts” where they eat non-stop. Then slow up a bit. But I think they are younger (no idea as one was stray, one was rescued from an outside hutch.) We know Luna is just over 2 years old though.

I went today and bought a new hay manger even because she didn’t seem to like the one I 1st bought. lol

        Thoughts?

Different bunnies have different appetites. It could also be the stress of moving to a new home. If she’s eating greens and hay, then I wouldn’t worry terribly about the pellets. It sounds like shes pooping just fine, so that’s always a good sign.

Some bunnies just aren’t fussed on certain things. For example, Lionel isn’t too crazy about carrots. As long as she hasn’t had a sudden change in appetite, I wouldn’t worry.

I think she is still just settling in. Doesn’t seem to like the pellets – but that’s fine. She is now really eating a good amount of hay. Turns out she didn’t like the hay from the one bag. So strange. Opened a new bag – she went to TOWN on it. Now she hears the hay bag and comes running. Weird. I have noted though they hay varies even though I buy the same brand. I’ll start trying to look at all the bags to make sure I find the ones they like – with the longer pieces. LOL

My buns are the same way with hay. I feed Oxbow and they love it most of the time but then we get the odd bag that looks or smells different and they totally snub it. Fussy brats!

Yep – crazy. I suppose I don’t like it when my food doesn’t take right either though! lol

It’s amazing how picky rabbits can be.  Mr Jingles wouldn’t go near apples a few months ago but now he fights you for them.  My mother has a mini lop and he will take a bite of apple and then that’s it.  So it really just depends on the rabbit.

UGH – now today, I found some cecals in her litter pan. =( I think she is big time stressed out. I feel terrible, I don’t think she likes being in “high traffic” areas. But there’s no where else to put her except in the basement. I’d like to socialize her…

Vet said she is completely healthy. =) He is taking a stool sample from her to test it to be safe. Said you never know about parasites and told us to keep her separate from the other 2 buns until we get the results.

Overall though he said she’s just going through an adjustment period. Said she is shedding a ton – brush her lots, not too many greens, and try to keep her stress down.
