I dunt know if it is the pet shops way of making more sales or not, but recently when I went to buy my normal pellet and the shop owner asked why I only bought a small packet of pellets.I replied to her that I normally feed my bunnies fresh greens 2x a day with unlimited hay and pellets only at night.she told me I should be feeding more pellet. and hay and fresh greens only twice a week!!!

Ive had Fluffer for 2 1/2 years now and she is the healthiest and  happiest bunny around!

im quite baffled at the pet shops remark. I hope im. not doing anything wrong.

        feedback appreciated.

          You’re doing perfectly!

          Pet shops:
          a) don’t know what they’re talking about
          b) are trying to sell you the stuff

Ignore the haters! seriously though, ignore her

Hay should ALWAYS be unlimited and veggies are must! Those 2 meals should always be mandatory. I feel like pellets are needed if your rabbit is underweight, old, or a baby to give the appropriate vitamins and to add weight that the bunny may need/loosing. Some people in the pet store do not know what they are talking about

They do just want money, pellets are rather like a multivitamin to make sure the bunny gets every thing they need, but veggies and hay especially are the base of the diet. You are doing just fine, the people in pet stores don’t know the right info.

In my experience, pet stores have no idea about proper rabbit care.

If you are ever unsure about your rabbits diet, refer to the House Rabbit Society’s Diet Section. It’s the most up-to-date and vet trusted info on rabbit nutrition.

Sorry to hear you had that kind of experience. I’m not sure why people (and pet stores) lump bunnies together with all other small animals and think they can rely on pellets with the occasional hay and veggie “treat.” I think rabbits are as much work as a cat or dog. I wish more people were as savvy as the people on here.

thank u all for your feedback.I agree with spottybunny. not many people are rabbit savvy. Here in Malaysia, everyone simply breed rabbits!! i dunmo its for pleasure or business. they are intrigued when I say I have all my 3 bunnies neutered!! I wish I cud do sumtg to educate people here.

There fewer the pellets the better! My bun is 10 years old. She gets an 1/8 a cup a day, tons of veggies and unlimited hay. The vet has been treating her since the day she was born and said that if she didn’t KNOW how old she was, she would guess 3-4 years because of how healthy she is. Just like humans, the less processed food the better!

Sounds like you’re doing great with your three! Keep up the good work and ignore the people who don’t know what they’re talking about!
