Okay so this is now the second time this has happened. I have a non neutered male rabbit. He is so sweet and loving, and normally well behaved.

Cash shows constant interest in my legs, from the knees down. He will sniff and nip. And now, twice he has gone for my legs for no reason and started to seriously bite them, drawing blood and gouging my leg open.

He only does it to me, nobody else in our home has this issue, but I am also the only female. At first I thought it might be territorial, but this second time it has happened in a completely different area.

Is this a hormonal thing, or some aggression problem? It isn’t any other part of my body but my legs, but now I’m hesitant to be walking around him, or not have my legs tucked underneath me.

I would strongly suggest neutering him. We had a nonneutered male that did this, although there was no blood and he would hump my sister and I’s leg at any opportunity. Neutering fixed it. It also made him less interested in following us around, but it was still worth it.

Definitely sounds hormonal.  Those sexy ankles and legs. lol.  He just loves them.  A neuter I second that it should definitely stop that behavior.  It takes about a month for the hormones to go away after a neuter.  In the meantime maybe a pair of boots would keep your ankles n legs safe or a very thick pair of tall socks

I personally think he just likes you, Pepper used to do that but then i started squealing indicating pain when he bites me and how he has stopped, he just licks me.

my rabbit is spayed and she snips at my ankles when I am standing folding clothes. I think she does it to get my attention

I would kill for it to be nips.

He did it a second and third time, and took gouges out of my shin and ankle.

It’s not attention because he will do it when I’m paying attention to him. >.>

Yeah but the vets around us are asking for nearly $400. So it might not be for a while.

So onto boots and thick jeans in 100 degree weather then. My vet recommended tabasco training. So put some tabasco sauce on a cutip, and when he bites to put it into his mouth. So far it seems to be the only thing that works.

Oh there is no way it could be that. The squeals turned into serious shrieks of actual pain, since he took a chunk out of my leg the second time he did it. Squealing and screaming didn’t work, he just kept doing it out of nowhere. He just doesn’t care. It’s weird. I’m now always wearing jeans and boots in the middle of summer. >.>

I’m not sure where you live, but you might try googling for low-cost spay/neuter clinics in your nearby area. There are also several societies as well that offer discounted certificates that you might find available to you to help lower the costs.
