I have ointment to rub onto her rashy and irritated skin twice a day and she was given a shot that will last up to 3 weeks to take care of all infections. But is there anything in particular I need to be doing for her otherwise?

Oreo has been sleeping a lot more and just lying around since the vet visit so I decided to give her cage rest today. She’s moving around some and playing a bit, but mostly just sitting and lying down. Oreo is eating, not as much as normal, but she is indeed eating and drinking water. She is eating hay and pooping normal and peeing some.

I’ve been keeping a close eye on her all day and all of last night. When I thought she wasn’t drinking enough, I moved her pellets out of her cage and gave her watered down romaine lettuce to both keep her hydrated and make sure she was eating. I plan to do this as much as is necessary to make sure she eats and doesn’t dehydrate.

I also changed her litter from pine shavings to pine pellets in her litterbox. I put hay over the top to both entice her in and make it more comfortable to sit on.

Is the hay gonna bother her irritated rear and legs/paws?

Is there anything else I should be doing? I am still a new bunny mom and just wanna make sure I take good care of her.

Also, anyone know of any pet wipes that are safe for bunnies? I am trying to find a brand that would be safe to use to clean Oreo’s backside some after she is recovered. I don’t want this rash coming back and thought wipes might be easier to use if possible.

P.S.S: Is gurgling noises off and on during the day normal for bunnies? Or normal for kinda sick bunnies? o3o

Geez! Sorry no one responded. How’s it going? Most I can relate to is that my animals sometimes are off by oral antibiotics, but I don’t even know what kind of injection lasts three weeks, so I’m sorry to not be any help. You must feel kind of ignored out there. But that’s a tough set of problems that many of us probably aren’t comfortable answering. I would probably just use wrt paper towels or do a butt bath if nec. in the future, but if she’s healthy I can’t imagine you should really need to do that.

I’m not familiar either with a shot that is going to last three weeks….but it just sounds like she is recovering to me.

Wipes probably aren’t really going to help with anything – just try to keep her dry.

What kind of pine pellets are you using? Pine shavings are not recommended so it is good you changed those out.

Megabunny: It’s okay lol. It’s going alright. Oreo is doing better and her skin is recovering. She doesn’t seem to be in as much pain anymore which is good.

Sarita: Thanks for your input! I just mostly wanted to know about the wipes thing because I want to prevent this from happening again. But perhaps the litter change will aid greatly in that. She hasn’t gotten worse at all so that’s a plus.
I am using a brand of pine pellets called Cozy n Fresh. Oreo really likes them, maybe even more than her old litter. It’s a brand from tractor supply that comes in 20 lb bags.

I’m not too sure about that shot either, but my vet seemed very keen on what he was saying about that shot. He is very knowledgeable about rabbits so I guess I’ll just see how it goes.

              Thanks you guys! c:
