The good news is that Holly is completely back to her old self after her bout with stasis. The bad news (not really that bad lol) is she’s becoming in love with tossing things! I started giving her these compressed hay disks (not sure if brand names are allowed so I’m omitting it) and she tosses them all over her pen and they always end up in her water and ruined/ making a mess all over the carpet and her. I know bunnies aren’t really supposed to get wet, so is it ok that she keeps splashing herself with water? She has two water dishes, but seems to prefer the one in her pen to the one in her cage (convenience I think). I don’t mind the mess, but I’m worried she’s going to catch a cold or get a skin issue if she keeps getting herself wet.

Also, lop question. Does anyone else with a lop find that their bunny’s ears get wet when they drink? I know Holly can hold them back, because I’ve seen her many times drink and not get them wet, but a lot of times she drinks and dips her ears right in the water. Are my bowls too low? I have two different styles and it happens in both.

That is okay – rabbits can get wet – I mean that is going to happen – you just don’t want to bathe them. Rabbits don’t get colds like humans do.

Sounds like she’s found a fun new activity too LOL.

Well that’s a relief. Looks like I worried for nothing! lol She’s definitely loving these hay disks, both for throwing and eating.

Try some of those baby keys too – they love to toss those things if they are tossers.

The only thing Henry throws is a tantrum!  Lol….
Henry drinks from a bottle, he loses fur every minute of every day no matter the time of year and a bowl of water ends up covered in bunny fluff within minutes. But it’s nothing for Henry to lay under his bottle after a drink and it drips on him, ha ha ha!
I agree, it sounds like Holly is having super fun! Good on her…. Your so lucky Katie having such a fun bunny!

PS – I’m super dooper happy Holly is all better. She had us worried there……

LOL aw I didn’t know Henry was such a big shedder!! Holly gets some fur in her bowls by the end of the day too, but not too much. I thought of switching out one for a bottle for less mess, but she seems to like her bowls so I don’t want to jinx anything. lol

Sarita, I’ll pick up some baby keys this weekend when I can watch her with them. She loves tossing but is also a heavy chewer, so I think I should be here to monitor her play for any hard key chewing. haha

I think everyones good vibes really helped Holly recover quickly!! I can’t thank everyone enough for their support. I was really surprised how fast she bounced back after looking so sick, but now I think I check on her about 100 times more everyday, check every single poop, pretty much stare at her eat…LOL I’m actually considering setting up a webcam in her pen so I can check in on her while I’m gone! A little crazy right?!

Oooh, I like the web cam idea! I’ve always wondered what mine do when I’m not in the room with them. Their rooms are upstairs, and we hear some pretty interesting noises when we’re downstairs. Finally figured out that the loud banging noise is Moshi moving the litterbox around — lift it, drag it, drop it, lift it, drag it, drop it . . . sometimes Marlee is IN the litterbox while this is going on! Some of the other strange noises, no idea!

Sweetie absolutely loves flinging around my son’s match box cars. I think he likes that they roll away. He especially likes the helicopter ones because he can pick them up by the propellers. We also have a few wooden baby toys and bunny-designed toys, but he way prefers the match box cars. I wouldn’t let him play with them though if he was a chewer – too many small pieces that could be swallowed.

I actually am in the process of getting some webcams set up in the bunny, piggy and hamster cages… so your just as sane as I am! Although that may not be saying too much, LOL!
I have baby keys for my bunnies too. Surprising the things that make them happy!
So glad Holly is all back to her normal self.

JackRabbit, Holly picks up her pen and moves it all over the place! haha I come in the room to find a once circular pen contorted in some crazy shapes. I know it’s only a matter of time before she figures out how to escape and I’ll have to figure something out. lol

HouseMiniLops, I’m so paranoid about what Holly plays with, I’m a LITTLE envious of people who don’t have heavy chewers. I gave her the willow branch box from the BB store with hay and a few treats inside and within a few hours it was a little pile of willow splinters. haha At least she enjoys her toys.

LongEaredLions, I’m glad I’m not THAT crazy!! LOL I told my boyfriend my plan to have a live feed set up and you should have seen the look on his face. I’m always so curious what she’s up to, and I also figure if she’s doing something naughty and other people are home I could give them a call and let them know. Seems useful to me! haha
