        Hello all!

I am new here so let me introduce myself real quick. I’m a rabbit mom to two adorable Mini Rex siblings named Freckles (F) and Rascal (M) who just turned two years old last week. I got my first rabbit thirteen years ago but these guys are my first bonded pair and they mean the world to me. I come to Binky Bunny all the time for answers I don’t know about rabbits already. You all seem like a great big family and a bunch of awesome people. =)

Anywho, I am a graduate student who lives in Michigan but attends school in Colorado in the summer. It’s a 26 hour trip across the country and involves going through elevation changes. My babes do well in the car – especially when they have each other so I’m not too concerned about that. However, I have yet to read anything from people who have traveled through the mountains. I see that people have taken their buns on airplanes so I can’t imagine elevation does anything crazy to rabbits but I want to double check before taking them out there next summer with me. I know my ears popped a few times when I was at the top of the mountains and the air is a bit thinner there but I’m thinking they will be okay?

Staying home is not an option as the few family members I have that are able to take care of them will all be traveling with me. And I do not trust anybody I know at home to come to my house and watch them as they are not very comfortable with new people. I hope you guys are able to shed some light on this part of travel for me as it’ll be a new experience for me. Thanks all!

P.S. I will post some pictures as soon as I figure out how to do so in this forum. =)

They should be ok. My vet is six thousand feet below my house, and my bunnies do fine.
I can’t wait to see photos! Here is a link explaining how:

Thanks! I figured they would be okay but of course hearing from somebody else that it’s been successful for them is always a great reassurance. =)

            And here’s the pictures!

Freckles is the brown one and was named for her spotty chest. And Rascal is the little white guy who is a complete ham and never passes up a photo opportunity. LOL

LEL — 6000 feet below your house! That’s alot of stairs! (I know, bad joke! I warned you that I get punchy when I’m tired!)

It IS a lot of stairs! Make sure to bring your water bottle, it tires you out! LOL!

Hmm… pictures didn’t go through. Let’s try this again. =)

I’m only posting two tonight and of course they are both sleeping in them but isn’t that when they are the cutest anyway?

^^^^^^ They typically sleep like that in their bed together or they hug one another and groom each others faces while falling asleep. It melts my heart every time.

The elevation changes should be fine. I’ve driven with bunnies across the mountains into California, and they did fine

Sleeping bunnies are so sweet! I love their bed!

LEL – With all those stairs, my thighs would look like they did in my 20’s! AND I’d have Buns of Steel (pun intended!) without having to buy the exercise video!!
